Schneider Electric is on a mission to drive worldwide economies of scale for IoT solutions by launching a new digital ecosystem. Schneider Electric Exchange will be a cross-industry open ecosystem designed to solve customer problems related to energy and process efficiency.

The ecosystem will also provide technology resources through APIs, data science and datasets, SDKs, access to private and public communities, as well as a digital marketplace.

“It brings together people across industries and practice areas that share a passion for sustainability and efficiency, enabling collaboration and interaction across ecosystems,” explains Schneider Electric's chief digital officer, Hervé Coureil.

“While all content, IoT applications, software, datasets, analytics, and tools are available to everyone, we have focused on specific capabilities that fit the needs and expectations of each community.

Schneider Electric says the ecosystem was first released in private beta mode in April 2018. In November, it launched to a broader customer base. So far it has achieved a global footprint of 35% in Asia Pacific, 35% in Europe, Middle East and Africa; and 20% in the Americas.

The Schneider Electric Exchange draws on the company's ecosystem of digital partners to help scale innovation. Amongst those partners are Accenture, and cybersecurity firm Claroty.

The company says that through its network of communities, the Exchange can broaden its partners' geographic and market reach.

"Digitisation continues to revolutionise the way we work and behave. The world can no longer work in independent silos; the need for better integration and collaboration has unearthed new opportunities and solutions,” says Schneider Electric EVP of IoT and digital offers, Cyril Perducat.

“Schneider Electric Exchange brings together a diverse ecosystem of digital innovators and experts, enabling the co-creation of solutions and enriching learning and speed through collective intelligence. Together this digital ecosystem creates, collaborates, and scales business growth.

Schneider Electric Exchange also includes EcoStruxure solutions, which provide access to the company's open, interoperable, IoT-enabled system architecture and ecosystem of experts.

EcoStruxure is deployed in almost 500,000 sites with the support of 20,000+ developers, 650,000 services providers and partners, 3,000 utilities and connects over 2 million assets under management.

With the concepts of co-innovation and collaboration added to the benefits of EcoStruxure, Schneider Electric Exchange users can take their business to the next level, while benefiting from Schneider's strong market reach and expertise.
