The Ultimate Guide to User and Entity Behavior Analytics
2024 edition
Overview

Also known as UEBA.

A specialised branch of cybersecurity using machine learning and data analytics, UEBA (sometimes just UBA – User Behaviour Analytics) looks for anomalies and exceptions in user behaviour, detecting suspicious patterns or actions which might signify malicious activity. Examples of anomalous behaviour include attempts to violate privilege by accessing unauthorised services or data, copying or transmitting data for no clear purpose or outside of authorized purpose, or attempting to access the credentials of other users.
