Check Point offers free cybersecurity checkups to Victorian businesses

Check Point Software Technologies is offering free, confidential cybersecurity checkups to Victorian enterprises and government departments.

According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre 2016 threat report, CERT Australia responded to 14,804 incidents involving Australian businesses between July 2015 and June 2016. 418 of these affected systems of national interest and critical infrastructure.

Check Point opened its Melbourne Technical Assistance Centre earlier in the year, and the company says business and government customers across the ANZ region is seeing tremendous success.

Philip Dalidakis, the Victorian Government's Minister of Small Business, Innovation and Trade, commended Check Point for its focus on the region's tech and cybersecurity savviness.

"Check Point's decision to invest in Melbourne is a further vote of confidence in Victoria's booming tech and innovation capabilities," Dalidakis says.

“Check Point's Melbourne presence has more than doubled in the past 18 months and with continued growth, will play a vital role in the future of Check Point in this region," adds Check Point ANZ regional managing director David De Laine.

De Laine says the Technical Assistance Centre and the security checkup options will help grow Victorian tech, skills, awareness and capability.

"We are excited by this investment by Check Point not only because it brings more high skill jobs to our state but it reinforces our vision to become a top five cyber and data security region," De Laine concludes.
