FYI, this story is more than a year old

Delinea chief security scientist and advisory CISO Joseph Carson has been recognised as a Top 50 Information Security Professional in the 2022 OnCon Icon Awards.

The awards acknowledge the top 100 Information Security professionals who have significantly impacted their current or previous companies, contributed considerably to their professional community through thought leadership, generated innovation in their role or career, and displayed outstanding leadership.

The OnConferences team picks finalists based on the applications and nominations, with public voting selecting the winners of the Icon Awards.

Further, the recipients of these awards represent some of the top information security professionals worldwide.

“I'm very grateful to receive this Icon Award recognition, especially since nominations come from Information Security professionals and are determined by peer observation,” Carson says.

“I'm honoured to be placed among such an amazing and respected list of leaders who are all working toward a common goal of making our digital and physical worlds safer and more secure.

Carson is an active member of the cybersecurity community and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.

In addition, he is a cybersecurity adviser to multiple governments, critical infrastructure organisations and financial and transportation industries.

Often speaking at industry and government events globally, Carson is also regularly quoted as an expert resource in global cybersecurity, technology, and business publications.

In addition, Carson hosts the award-winning cybersecurity podcast 401 Access Denied with Cybrary, which recently exceeded 100,000 listens.

Carson's OnCon Icon Award recognition comes after Delinea announced new features and enhancements to expand the capabilities of its Secret Server in June, including design updates and new security controls.

The privileged access management provider has introduced a Remote Access Service, which offers VPN-less browser-based RDP/SSH session management for contractors and remote employees.

Adding to Secret Server's current session management capabilities, Remote Access Service also makes it easier to use and reduces friction as it doesn't need an end-user client or VPN connection to support the different environments and systems used by an extended workforce.

Remote Access Service works with Secret Server on-premises and in the cloud.

The latest update to Secret Server also comes with improvements to its existing disaster recovery capabilities by giving businesses automated redundancy to ensure break-glass access to secrets in the event of an infrastructure failure.

Delinea notes that improving cloud infrastructure allows for seamless failover, quicker disaster recovery and hybrid failover.

Further, these updates mean customers now have the flexibility to automatically replicate secret data either to another on-premises or cloud instance to ensure resiliency.

“With this latest release of Secret Server, we are improving the resiliency of secrets for our customers with automated disaster recovery options for both on-premises and the cloud,” Delinea chief product officer Phil Calvin says.

“We are also improving usability and reducing friction by providing session management capabilities that require no VPN or end-user client to better support the current environment where more employees and contractors are working remotely.

The latest release also includes enhancements to password complexity rules, revisions to incident response practices, and many UI improvements for a seamless user experience.
