Ingram Micro NZ scores exclusive distribution rights to Fitbit

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Ingram Micro has been appointed as the exclusive distributor of Fitbit - a global provider of smartwatches designed for fitness purposes - in the New Zealand region.

The distributor says it is excited to be working with the company, noting that the new partnership is set to deliver mutual success and growth for both companies in New Zealand.

According to Ingram Micro NZ, the move reflects its focus on offering market-leading brands to all of its partners.

It says smartwatches are no longer simply a consumer product, with commercial partners adopting this technology and integrating Fitbit devices into their workforce, with health and wellness programs.

Ingram says New Zealand organisations can use the technology to incentivise staff, rewarding employees for reaching regular targets or KPI's.

It says this use of the technology can foster a healthier and happier workforce, who are more productive with lower absenteeism.

The agreement comes off the back of Fitbit's recent launch of a new style of smartwatch, the Fitbit Versa, which has now become the vendor's best-selling smartwatch.

With the new smartwatch, Fitbit has boasted significant improvements including a battery that lasts more than four days and new features such as a 24/7 heart-rate monitor, phone-free music and on-wrist coaching.

Fitbit joins Google Nest, STM and Upright GO, which have all been added to the Ingram Micro Consumer Electronic line card in the past six months.
