FYI, this story is more than a year old

With the latest versions of iPadOS 14.5, macOS 11.3 and tvOS 14.5 rolling out to Apple devices this week, enterprise management provider Jamf has announced same-day feature support for the new operating systems.

Jamf specialises in enterprise management for Apple devices for government, schools, and businesses. The company has been working extensively to test the compatibility of its solutions through Apple's beta releases.

Now with same-day support for the new operating systems, IT admins are able to allow end users to upgrade their devices without any effect on management workflows.

Furthermore, Jamf also ensures that Apple endpoint security will continue to work without disruption.

Jamf chief technology officer Jason Wudi says, “Organisations should not be limited in their ability to deploy the latest Apple technology based on what their vendors can support.

“Jamf supports it all same day, allowing any organisation that wants M1-powered Macs to use M1-powered Macs.

Jamf Pro helps IT admins to gain visibility and inventory reporting for iOS and iPadOS apps, while Jamf School can provide same-day support as well as the ability to deploy iOS and iPadOS apps to Macs powered by the M1 chip.

The company states, “This capability will be especially useful to Jamf education customers looking to access education apps in the Mac App Store and make them available to students whether they are on an iPad or Mac, allowing for more continuity among students and teachers.

Jamf Connect, Jamf Now and Jamf Protect also offer same-day support for the new Apple operating systems.

Earlier last month the company announced the acquisition of ‘technical assets' from a company called cmdSecurity. The assets include a tool called cmdReporter, which is a suite of security and compliance tools for macOS.

According to Jamf, Apple enterprise management must include macOS security.

“Securing employee computers is a critical function of IT security, especially in these times of remote work,” explains Jamf director of security product strategy, Josh Stein.

“Compliance and auditing standards exist to ensure that a baseline of security best practices are in place to guard against the myriad of cybersecurity risks that have the potential to cause damaged reputations and financial losses.

The company did not disclose details about the transaction but did mention that the two creators of cmdReporter will join the Jamf team.

“We created cmdReporter to provide a secure Mac experience for all types of organisations big and small,” comments cmdReporter cofounder Dan Griggs.

“By joining forces with Jamf, we will have the resources and expertise to bring some truly amazing security products to market.
