Lycamobile boosts Q4 activations & wins Finder award

Thu, 15th Jan 2026

Lycamobile Australia reported a rise of more than 50% in plan activations in the final quarter of 2025, alongside recognition at the Finder Mobile Awards 2026.

The mobile virtual network operator said the uplift covered both pay monthly and pay as you go plans. The company linked the result to wider growth and market expansion across the year.

Lycamobile also pointed to a simplified product range and changes in its digital sign-up experience. It said it reduced the number of plans on sale from 21 to nine after reviewing customer demand.

Product Changes

Lycamobile said its revised line-up includes options for data, calls and texts. The company positioned the plans around lower-cost connectivity for customers in Australia.

The company also expanded eSIM availability. It described the work as part of its investment in its digital channels and customer experience.

"We have streamlined the number of plans available from 21 to nine, following a detailed review of customer needs. Our new plans have been designed to deliver maximum value to Australian customers. To further support customers, we have expanded our eSIM options and invested in digital innovation and user-centric experiences," said Will Beukes, Head of Digital, Lycamobile Australia.

Lycamobile did not disclose the base number of plan activations or the split between prepaid and postpaid customers. It also did not publish revenue figures connected to the Q4 activation increase.

Awards Result

The Finder Mobile Awards assessed more than 290 products from 47 providers during a 12-month judging period, according to Lycamobile. Finder evaluated products across value, high-data allowances and plan duration, the company said.

Lycamobile said it won Best Long Expiry Prepaid Mobile Provider. It also said Finder gave Lycamobile a Highly Commended result in the Value SIM Only Mobile Provider category.

In its description of the winning long-expiry prepaid plans, Lycamobile highlighted data allowances and pricing. It also cited "extra perks including eSIM sign-up options and unlimited calls to 35 international destinations".

In its summary of the SIM-only recognition, Lycamobile pointed to plan pricing and data allocations. It said customers can manage costs while staying connected.

Market Position

MVNOs operate by offering mobile services using network capacity from established mobile network operators. They often compete on plan structure, pricing and service features such as international calling and eSIM activation.

Lycamobile operates globally across 18 countries and serves more than 16 million customers, according to company figures. It launched in 2006 and sells pay monthly and SIM only plans.

The company's Australian Country Director linked the awards and Q4 activation result to its product changes. The executive also cited "service quality" and further innovation.

"These awards are a testament to our commitment to delivering value, flexibility, and real results for our customers. By simplifying our plans and focusing on what Australians truly need, we've not only provided cost-effective solutions without compromising on service quality but also achieved strong market growth and customer adoption. We're proud to be recognised for our efforts and will continue to innovate in ways that deliver both exceptional experiences and measurable success for our customers," said Noman Abassi.

Lycamobile said it will continue work on digital channels and plan design in Australia. It also said it will continue to expand its eSIM options and invest in digital innovation and user-centric experiences.
