NetComm Wireless was named overall Internet of Things (IoT) innovator at the 10th Annual Communications Alliance ACOMM awards dinner held in Sydney last week.
The company earned the prize for its Smart Home Gateway (NTC-70), a world first IoT device that's designed to transform the future of energy management by lowering household emissions and sustaining energy efficiency.
According to NetComm, the Smart Home Gateway facilitates the efficient use of energy resources worldwide and is also used by Hitachi to support its development of ICT infrastructure.
It's the fifth year in a row that the company has won a prize for its innovation - something that the company's CEO, David Stewart, says is such a privilege.
"We have worked hard to innovate a technology that redefines the way that power is managed and it is truly an honour to have been presented the newly introduced ACOMM Award for IoT innovation as we continue to engineer technologies that address some of the world's most demanding challenges," says Stewart.
While supporting electrical power demand adjustments and analysis, the NTC-70 also supports the collection of large amounts of data from residential homes and businesses - all of which is done through a centralised management system.
The innovation award wasn't the only prize for the company, their CEO ended up taking home the highest honour of the evening. Stewart received the Communications Ambassador 2016 award, crediting the CEO for his significant and valuable contribution to the Australian communications industry.
