FYI, this story is more than a year old

Veeam has released version two of its Microsoft Office 365 backup solution.

This new release adds backup for OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, and SharePoint on-premises installations, in addition to Exchange Online and Exchange on-premises.

The new offering has more than 50 enhancements to assist with setting up, managing, and maintaining protection, visibility and compliance across all Office 365 data while ensuring the hyper-availability of critical Microsoft Office 365 applications for organisations of all sizes.

It protects data inside the Office 365 infrastructure, enhancing the automatic data replication Microsoft provides across its data centers.

With Veeam, IT can securely backup Office 365 to on-premises or to the cloud with Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS, IBM Cloud, and over 18,000 service providers to enhance the protection of Office 365 data from accidental deletion, security threats and retention policy gaps; quickly restore individual Office 365 items and files with industry-leading recovery flexibility; and meet legal and compliance requirements with efficient eDiscovery of Office 365 backup archives.

“For Veeam, this announcement represents the execution of our product strategy; to be the most trusted provider of intelligent data management solutions, that includes SaaS platforms,” says Veeam ANZ systems engineering head Nathan Steiner.

“For the ANZ market, providing customers with the ability to manage, protect, recover and intelligently analyse their Office 365 data, is a real differentiator. 50% of the ANZ commercial market and users are leveraging Office 365 in the cloud. By 2019, this figure is expected to exceed over 75%.

“With Veeam Backup for Office365 version 2, the ability to protect, manage and recover at scale an organisation's complete set of Office 365 services, that includes Microsoft OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, and SharePoint on-premises installations, presents the capability to further complement our ANZ customers. This places the ownership and control of customers data firmly back in their hands, enabling them to better manage their risk and the cost of transition to cloud-based, SaaS services.

Veeam is also releasing Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Community Edition which provides access and control of Office 365 data for free, with functionality identical to that of the paid version, but limited to 10 users and 1TB of protected SharePoint data.

“With our latest release, Veeam extends our long-term commitment to provide additional security controls and backup of Microsoft Office 365 data,” says Veeam product strategy vice president Danny Allan.

“No company with Office 365 should be without Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 v2. With Veeam, the enterprise remains in complete control and data remains available and protected.
