Following hot on the heels of AWS which recently established a point of presence at NextDC's Perth data center, Vodafone Australia is also teaming up with the data center service provider.

Vodafone is launching a point-of-presence at NEXTDC's perth data center which will link to the teleco company's super hub. This will help providing additional service resilience to local customers and increase access to complementary networks while helping to deliver 4G service to Western Australia customers.

Adam Scully, group executive, Sales and Marketing of NEXTDC, comments, “Our P1 facility will be linked to Vodafone's super hub, giving customers across Western Australia access to a range of new services and adding even more redundancy to the network.

“Being able to offer global leaders like Vodafone the ability to provide customers with better services is the driver behind NEXTDC's continual push to deliver premium data center services across the country.

Vodafone's presence at P1 in Malaga will boost the telecommunications provider's capacity for IP transit and peering, including access to subsea cable connections and hosting network functions virtualisation (NFV) equipment to run mobile and fixed network core applications.

Vodafone's general manager of Network Engineering and Performance, Barry Kezik, says establishing a presence in NEXTDC's P1 Perth data center is an exciting step for Vodafone.

"We continue to focus on delivering a great network experience to our customers using the broad range of offerings from NEXTDC, including the data center's community of carriers, content delivery networks (CDNs), transit networks and dark fibre service providers.

As part of the agreement, NEXTDC will also provide real-time telemetry on Vodafone's rack environment through the ONEDC cloud-based DCIM service, which can be integrated into Vodafone's facility monitoring systems.
