Acronis & OpSys launch local MDR services for Australian MSPs
Acronis has appointed Operational Systems (OpSys) as its first certified managed security service provider (MSSP) partner in Australia, introducing a locally built Managed Detection and Response (MDR) offering for managed service providers (MSPs) across the country.
Local market focus
The partnership will see OpSys deliver Acronis MDR services designed specifically to address Australian data sovereignty rules and security requirements. All data processed and stored through the service will remain within Australian borders. MSPs now have an option for compliance with local mandates, including the Essential Eight and government procurement rules.
Channel operations
MSPs are experiencing increased pressure to offer around-the-clock cybersecurity capabilities but often lack the resources to build in-house security operations. Through this arrangement, MSPs are able to deliver MDR services to their customers without investing in their own security operations centre (SOC), specialist tooling or extra staff. Partners will retain autonomy over their branding, pricing, margins, and direct service delivery. The OpSys-managed offering can support environments scaling to thousands of endpoints and integrates with Acronis' cybersecurity platform.
Australian support
OpSys, headquartered in Adelaide, runs its security operations centre domestically and provides Australian-based engineering support. The company's service includes transparent, predictable pricing structures. This enables MSPs to propose a locally supported solution in a market where many alternatives are delivered from overseas. The partnership is positioned as a response to demand for sovereign defence capabilities, giving MSPs differentiated offerings for security-focused clients.
MSSP programme
The collaboration forms part of the Acronis MSSP Programme, which provides managed security providers with access to technologies such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR), backup, disaster recovery, and remote monitoring and management. Participants gain the flexibility to define their own MDR services and pricing, operate multi-tenant environments, and receive training, marketing support, and 24/7 technical assistance. Acronis currently works with more than 700 partners in Australia.
Executive views
"This partnership gives Australian MSPs a reliable, sovereign, and cost-effective way to offer enterprise-grade cyber defence with true active response - not just alerting," said Matthew Fabri, Managing Director, OpSys.
"MDR is becoming a mandatory layer for MSPs. OpSys will help us support more than 700 Acronis partners across Australia with MDR services that can be deployed at scale," said Pasha Ershow, SVP APJ & Middle East, Acronis.
