AI tech boosts Kilcoy & MEQ partnership for beef insights

Thu, 31st Oct 2024

Australian agtech company MEQ and red meat producer Kilcoy Global Foods (KGF) have announced an expansion of their partnership to incorporate advanced AI technology for improved decision-making processes.

Recognising the potential benefits of enhanced data usage, KGF will integrate MEQ's AI-driven tools across its processing plants. The move follows KGF's earlier adoption of robotic carcase cutting technology, supported by MEQ's beef probe over the past 15 months. This technology has played a crucial role in optimising where specific meat cuts are made during processing.

The partnership will add MEQ Cameras to KGF's grading processes, offering a new AI-powered Insights Portal that will provide detailed analysis on trends and eating quality traits of beef at both mob and carcase levels. The data collected aims to improve various aspects of KGF's operations, from livestock management and operations to sales, marketing, and producer feedback.

Jacob English of Kilcoy Global Foods commented on the partnership: "Kilcoy is committed to harnessing technology to make the decision-making process faster, easier and based on the most accurate information available. We're delighted to expand our partnership with MEQ, after the excellent results we've seen so far. MEQ is an ideal fit - they are a solutions-oriented business that understands what information is needed to drive real strategic value throughout a supply chain."

The MEQ Insights Portal, which will include an interactive dashboard, is set to roll out in the near future, alongside the operationalisation of the MEQ Cameras across all KGF plants. This portal will serve as a key tool for data analysis and business decision support.

Remo Carbone, CEO of MEQ, stated: "By combining Kilcoy Global Foods' data with MEQ's devices and data science capabilities, we can unlock powerful insights that can transform how decisions are made across the business. With millions of data points across various datasets, including both live animal and carcase measurements, MEQ's database offers an unparalleled foundation for in-depth analysis. By integrating this data through our Insights Portal, KGF will be able to predict trends, optimise processes, and drive innovation from paddock to plate. MEQ is incredibly excited to be extending our partnership with KGF and witness how these advanced insights will reshape their operations."
