Amazon launches Alexa+ with enhanced AI capabilities
Amazon has unveiled Alexa+, the next generation of its AI assistant, which it says will offer enhanced conversational capabilities and a more integrated experience with a variety of services and devices.
The new Alexa+ aims to improve the way users interact with digital assistants by being more conversational and personalised.
According to Amazon, Alexa+ will provide a smoother and more intuitive interaction, meaning that users will not need to use specific phrases to receive the correct response.
Alexa+ will integrate with a vast range of services and devices, such as GrubHub, OpenTable, Ticketmaster, Yelp, and Uber, among others. This will allow Alexa+ to create an intuitive smart home experience by controlling multiple smart devices with simple voice commands. The assistant will also be able to infer actions based on indirect requests, such as adjusting a smart thermostat when a user indicates they are cold.
In terms of entertainment, Alexa+ will continue to provide the ability to play music from services like Spotify and Amazon Music, and offer conversations about artists and their music.
Additionally, users will be able to request specific scenes from movies and TV shows, inquire about characters, episodes, and more.
Amazon describes Alexa+ as a significant advancement in AI assistant technology, with plans for further developments and capabilities in the future.
Initially, Alexa+ will be available to customers in the United States, with plans to expand its availability to all countries where Alexa is currently offered. Amazon is working on localising the experience for other markets, including Australia and New Zealand, with more details to be shared closer to those launches.
