Appian platform helping Horizon Power digitally transform

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Appian has announced that Horizon Power is now using the Appian low-code platform to power its digital transformation program.

Horizon Power says traditional manual processes come with various challenges, explaining that it works to modernise its processes to support future business growth for its internal and external customers.

The Western Australian energy utility recently launched its Utility of the Future transformation program to improve internal workflows and processes. This collaboration with Appian will enable the company to automate a range of processes.

Additionally, Horizon Power's digital and data solutions manager Suresh Parimi says the utility's digital transformation program will significantly change how its workforce functions.

"With Appian, Horizon Power is moving beyond siloed operations and manual workflows that previously could see some reporting tasks take weeks to complete.

"Automating processes with the Appian Low-Code Platform will play a key role in us delivering the type of experience we want our customer to have," Parimi says.

The first department of Horizon Power to benefit from Appian's automation platform is its procurement team, ahead of the broader roll-out, which will address opportunities in other parts of the business.

"Anything we can do to reduce duplication and make workflows more efficient for our team will help make their work life much richer and more rewarding," Horizon Power procurement and supply chain manager Michelle Hurdle says.

"We currently find ourselves in a restricted labour market where it is a challenge to attract and retain people.

"Introducing the Appian platform and automating our heavily manual processes will help us increase employee satisfaction and encourage our team members to stay with Horizon Power.

Through Horizon Power's collaboration with Appian partner Vuram, the company now has an automated platform that unifies its business processes and provides real-time visibility across business operations, governance and risk and compliance.

Horizon Power elaborates that this has resulted in improved productivity and decision making whilst also ensuring relevant and timely information that meets senior management and board reporting requirements.

Appian's low-code platform assists organisations in building apps and workflows at speed, and Horizon Power says it undertook a highly selective process to find the right technology partner whose solution could be tailored to its specific transformation needs.

Furthermore, Appian says its ability to assist companies in maximising their resources and generating stronger business results comes from combining people, technologies, and data in a single workflow.

"Horizon Power is driving innovation through digital transformation and we're thrilled to be playing a key role in this exciting period of change for the energy retailer," Appian Asia Pacific regional vice president Luke Thomas says.

"By automating processes intelligently, Horizon Power is set to benefit from enhanced efficiencies and increased speed across its entire business, which will help to meet the ever-evolving demands of the energy industry.
