Atturra delivers first SIS module to Brisbane Grammar School

Wed, 17th Jul 2024

Atturra has announced the successful development and delivery of the first module of the Student Information System (SIS) for Brisbane Grammar School. The module, named People and Profile, is built on Microsoft Dynamics 365, with an aim to streamline administrative processes and unlock new learning and service delivery capabilities.

The delivery of the initial module represents a strategic decision to adopt the Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform without the need for custom coding. This approach was enabled by clear requirements set forth by Brisbane Grammar School, coupled with the technical expertise and support from Atturra.

The People and Profile module acts as the cornerstone of the broader SIS solution. It includes features such as a robust database for managing people and their relationships, support for registration processes, legal arrangements, medical needs, health records, counselling, well-being and support plans, attendance management, enrolment capabilities, and school staffing functions.

This new system, utilising Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Power Platform applications, aims to replace the school's legacy on-premise system, which consists of 42 bespoke applications. The new platform boasts out-of-the-box capabilities, strong integration capabilities through APIs and message queues, and native integration with low and no-code platforms. It is designed to support everyday school processes like personalised learning, school reports, excursions, communications, resource and incident management, and financial billing and reporting.

The transition to this system is intended to empower all community members by providing a flexible and unified system for their interactions with the school, effectively reducing the administrative burden imposed by operating multiple systems. Additionally, it is expected to enable Brisbane Grammar School to evolve its processes and adapt to emerging learning and service delivery capabilities.

"We are delighted that Atturra is on track with its delivery of our SIS, as it is a key anchor for our growth and digital innovation," said Alexis Hill, Chief Information Officer at Brisbane Grammar School. "Atturra is a valuable partner and it's great to see them meeting our set delivery timeframes for services and solutions that will underpin our SIS and digital ways of working for many years to come."

The solution developed for Brisbane Grammar School is structured to be applicable to other educational institutions. Schools interested in adopting the system can deploy it in a modular way, allowing for earlier deployment and feedback collection while reducing the effort required for switching from other systems. For example, a school requiring only an attendance and rostering module can purchase a license and later unlock additional features as needed.

Anthony Micallef, Headmaster at Brisbane Grammar School, expressed his enthusiasm about the project's progress. "We are witnessing our vision come to life and are excited to implement contemporary practices in attracting, developing, and retaining the best individuals, strengthening ties with stakeholders, and enhancing the educational and user experience for students and staff. The project is inspiring the community to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the digital age, and we thank Atturra for their support and collaboration during this journey."

Brett Auton, Industry Lead-K-12 Education at Atturra, stated, "Our relationship with Brisbane Grammar School is a strategic partnership. We look forward to continuing to deliver value by developing additional modules for the SIS with the performance and scalability required for the school's ongoing growth, and supporting other educational institutions as they undertake their ongoing digitisation."
