auDA 2023-24 report highlights secure & reliable domains
.au Domain Administration has published its 2023-24 Annual Report, highlighting its efforts in maintaining a secure and reliable .au domain while fostering collaboration with stakeholders.
The report details the organisation's achievements over the past financial year. One key accomplishment was supporting over 4.2 million .au domain names while ensuring 100% availability for its domain name system (DNS). This accessibility facilitates smooth connectivity for internet users with .au websites and email addresses.
DNS abuse instances were significantly reduced to just 0.0002% of .au domain names, a rate notably below the global average. Additionally, auDA introduced its first Public Policy Agenda and Internet Governance Roadmap, guiding policy development and advocacy initiatives.
auDA's membership base grew and diversified, reaching over 5,000 members. These members play a crucial role in informing the organisation's understanding of Australians' digital needs.
Research was pivotal in auDA's activities. Four reports—Digital Lives of Australians 2023 and 2024, Atlas of Australia Online 2023, and the Future Scenarios Project Report—were published. These publications aim to inform auDA's operations and drive advancements in digital policy and industry practices.
In terms of community support, auDA committed AUD $600,000 towards various community projects and backed four Research and Development pilot projects, aiming to enhance the internet's value for Australians.
Alan Cameron AO, Chair of auDA, commented on the report, saying, "auDA's 2023-24 Annual Report details auDA's work over the financial year to deliver a trusted, secure .au. auDA delivered excellence in its core functions and diligently advocated for, and committed to, multi-stakeholder processes across all aspects of its work."
