Australian regulator chooses TechnologyOne's ERP solution
The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) has selected TechnologyOne's SaaS+ solution, becoming the first federal government agency under the Digital Transformation Agency's (DTA) ERP panel.
The ERP panel was created following the government's decision to replace the GovERP policy, which was initially built on SAP enterprise systems. This provided opportunities for Australian software providers to offer more cost-effective solutions. The Minister for Finance had previously announced that the GovERP project would be discontinued, citing costs of AUD $400 million and delivery issues.
AER, responsible for regulating electricity and gas markets in Australia, used the new panel to select an ERP system ahead of its planned legal separation from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Technologyone's Onegovernment Saas+ was chosen from an extensive list of local and international vendors.
This SaaS+ solution promises timely and budget-conscious implementation for enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. It ensures AER's access to the OneGovernment product suite through a singular enterprise platform from its first day of independent operations. SaaS+ is distinctive for taking full responsibility for solution delivery, covering implementation, operation, future updates, and support for a single annual fee. Government agencies in Queensland and New South Wales have effectively applied this model.
Ed Chung, Chief Executive Officer of TechnologyOne, remarked, "As the first Federal agency to select our unique Solution as a Service offering – SaaS Plus – the AER can focus on delivering best-in-class services, while we take care of their end-to-end solution experience. This deal is an important indicator that the new panel approach is a step forward in levelling the playing field for Australian tech businesses."
"Australian tech has shown it can compete and win in every market in the world, we are thrilled the government is creating opportunities to encourage public servants to consider home grown success stories like TechnologyOne when they are buying."
A recent report from Insight Economics emphasised the global trend for governments to procure locally made technology to drive economic and community outcomes. This agreement between AER and TechnologyOne marks a significant development in this area.
Over 230 federal and state government departments and agencies throughout Australia and New Zealand use Technologyone's solutions.
