Avec Expands Data & AI Practice with appointment

Avec has confirmed the appointment of Anthony Tockar as Practice Lead – Data & AI, effective immediately. Tockar, previously the Director at Verge Labs, is known for his strong presence in the AI community and his dedication to using data for social good.

Before joining Avec, Anthony Tockar was instrumental in growing The Minerva Collective, a not-for-profit organization, where he expanded the volunteer community to almost 1000 members and assisted multiple charities with critical issues. Tockar is also an active participant in various meetup groups, including the Sydney Data Science Breakfast meetup and Data Visualisation Sydney. His recent efforts led to the founding of the Sydney AI Hub.

In his new role at Avec, Tockar will collaborate with team members and Managing Director Dennis Grant, leveraging Avec's capabilities in resourcing, SME-squared partners, and project delivery to expand the Data & AI practice. He said of his appointment, “I am really looking forward to working with Dennis and the team at Avec as they grow the brand and welcome new clients. I’m extremely excited to begin building out Data & AI practices for our clients and expand our footprint.”

Tockar's achievements include his acclaimed article, "Riding with the Stars: Passenger Privacy in the NYC Taxicab Dataset," and his creation of IMpLy, a framework for understanding machine learning models. He recently launched Oversight.ai, a framework that assists businesses in implementing ethical data practices.

His hire comes as the company seeks to build on its reputation in the rapidly growing field of data and AI, and his extensive experience is expected to significantly contribute to Avec's continued success in the industry.
