Carnival Cruise Line, DXC partner to enhance IT globally
Carnival Cruise Line has entered into a multi-year agreement with DXC Technology to deliver and manage the cruise operator's technology infrastructure worldwide.
The collaboration will see DXC support Carnival's guest experience across its global fleet, in addition to strengthening portside and shoreside operations through a range of IT services.
As part of the agreement, DXC is tasked with delivering IT solutions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, employee productivity and the consistency of guest services across Carnival's 29 ships and associated facilities.
Sean Kenny, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Carnival Cruise Line, said,
"At Carnival, we're committed to delivering memorable vacations for our guests, and technology plays a vital role in ensuring they have the best onboard experience. The DXC team demonstrates exceptional technical expertise, responsiveness and a clear commitment to delivering on our long-term vision. With them as our trusted partner, we're investing in technology that strengthens the foundation of our operations to provide a great experience for our guests across our 29 ships globally and supporting our dedicated team members both shipboard and shoreside."
The IT services provided by DXC will encompass management of workplace support, IT service management, infrastructure operations and security risk management. An employee-centric delivery model will be employed, focusing on both workforce requirements and guest experiences, with an emphasis on cybersecurity, automation and scalability across Carnival's operations.
DXC will manage Carnival's core IT infrastructure in all operational environments, including shipboard systems, offices on land and port facilities. The delivery model is intended to be tailored and scalable, with services designed to increase resilience and ensure operational consistency.
Chris Drumgoole, President, Global Infrastructure Services at DXC Technology, commented on the partnership, stating,
"This collaboration with Carnival Cruise Line represents a significant milestone for DXC as we continue to expand our footprint in the hospitality and travel sectors. Our goal is clear -- deliver complete operational confidence for our customers by minimising technology disruptions. By managing their complex IT operations and providing modern solutions, we're proud to help Carnival do what they do best, ensuring every guest enjoys their cruise vacation."
DXC's involvement in the travel and hospitality sector includes partnerships with a range of brands internationally and is supported by the company's technical resources and sector expertise. The services provided to Carnival will include automation support and high-level staffing, with a view to maintaining secure operations and modernising key systems as customer expectations continue to evolve.
Carnival Cruise Line, which operates from 13 US and two Australian homeports as well as seasonal European routes, currently runs a fleet of 29 ships. The company is in a period of fleet growth, with five additional ships planned through 2033; this includes new additions to both existing and forthcoming classes of vessels. Carnival employs over 50,000 personnel representing 120 nationalities.
The partnership arrives as Carnival forecasts robust demand for its cruises, with recent indications of record bookings during the summer travel season. The collaboration aims to support both Carnival's immediate operational needs and its longer-term technology and business strategy in the cruise industry.
