Claroty announces multi-year collaboration with AWS on CPS security

Wed, 7th Aug 2024

Cybersecurity firm Claroty has announced a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This new partnership aims to strengthen the security measures for organisations integrating cloud technology in their digital transformation efforts. The collaboration will combine Claroty's expertise in cyber-physical system (CPS) protection with AWS’s secure cloud infrastructure.

As large enterprises continue to pivot towards the cloud, the security of cyber-physical systems and edge locations has become increasingly critical. Cyber-physical systems, including operational technology (OT), Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), and enterprise IoT, are growingly connected to IT networks and the cloud. This interconnectedness, while providing significant productivity and cost-saving benefits, exposes these systems to potential cyber risks that could impact national security, economic stability, and public safety. Organisations are thus seeking SaaS-based cybersecurity solutions tailored to their specific CPS needs, which the Claroty and AWS partnership aims to fulfil.

Claroty brings its industry-specific cyber-physical systems protection platform to the table, delivering comprehensive asset visibility and a broad range of solutions, including exposure management, network protection, secure access, and threat detection. The firm’s SaaS platform, xDome, is built on AWS architecture, enabling shared customers to benefit from the scalability, flexibility, and simplicity of the cloud, alongside specialized protection for all CPS assets and connected networks.

Sam Thomas, OT Technical Specialist at Britvic, remarked on the ease of deploying Claroty’s platform. "The Claroty xDome platform was extremely easy to set up, due to its scalable architecture on AWS. With xDome, we managed to install the server and start getting data within two hours, and the data we got allowed us to act quickly on issues that we hadn’t already noticed in our environment."

Jeff Kratz, Vice President of AWS Worldwide Public Sector Industry Sales, emphasized the growing need for secure CPS as enterprises migrate to the cloud. “With more and more large enterprises in both the public and private sector pivoting towards the cloud, ensuring the security of CPS within their core networks and edge locations has become a priority. We are excited to collaborate with Claroty to bring their cutting-edge CPS cybersecurity solutions built on AWS to our customers.”

Stephan Goldberg, Vice President of Business Development at Claroty, commented on the sector-specific nature of CPS protection. "CPS protection varies by vertical – for example, securing a PLC in a manufacturing plant comes with certain requirements and parameters that are unique from those of an MRI machine in a hospital. As such, verticalisation is at the core of our business and what allows us to help our customers improve their CPS security posture so effectively. Moreover, effective CPS protection helps give organisations the assurance they need to move these mission-critical systems to the cloud. We are thrilled to expand our collaboration with AWS and work together to empower organisations to achieve cyber and operational resilience."

This announcement follows several significant milestones for Claroty, including the launch of an evolved Claroty Platform, being named a Strong Performer in The Forrester Wave: Operational Technology Security Solutions, Q2 2024, being honoured as Best in KLAS for Healthcare IoT Security by KLAS Research for four consecutive years, and winning Best IOT/IIOT Security Solution in the SC Awards Europe for three years in a row.
