CMTG unveils AUD $1 million data centre upgrade plan

Mon, 31st Mar 2025

CMTG has announced an AUD $1 million upgrade to its data centre in Morley, Western Australia, to enhance overall infrastructure performance for current and future demands.

According to the company, the upgrade, expected to be completed in the latter half of the year, is designed to improve speed, reliability, and scalability while increasing sustainability and enabling new technological opportunities.

The project will integrate high-powered computing clusters to phase out outdated hardware and notably increase processing capacity. Additionally, new Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) acceleration technology will bolster data analytics and speed up artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning capabilities.

Furthermore, extended networking and storage capabilities will be available to manage expanding customer workloads more efficiently. This expansion also includes increased co-working capacity, featuring enhanced connectivity facilitated by dark fibre networks.

To address environmental concerns, the upgrade will replace existing chillers with more energy-efficient cooling systems, aiming to minimise ecological impact.

Carl Filpo, Managing Director of CMTG, stated, "This significant investment represents a major step forward in our growth strategy. It ensures we can continue to provide secure and scalable solutions for our customers while also meeting sustainability goals and supporting emerging technologies. By investing in high-powered computing, GPU acceleration and expanded capacity, we're ensuring businesses have the technology they need to drive innovation, harness AI, and scale their operations with confidence."

This announcement coincides with International Data Centre Day, a global initiative aiming to highlight the critical importance of data centres in the digital age and inspire future professionals in the sector.

Filpo noted, "Data centres are the backbone of our digital economy, and it's critical we continue to invest in secure, sustainable and scalable infrastructure to meet growing demand. We're proud to support International Data Centre Day and shine a light on the exciting opportunities available in this sector."

CMTG's AUD $1 million investment in upgrading its data centre in Morley reflects its commitment to meeting growing technological and sustainability demands. By enhancing processing power, expanding networking capacity, and adopting energy-efficient cooling systems, CMTG is positioning itself to better support businesses leveraging AI, machine learning, and other emerging technologies. This initiative underscores the importance of evolving infrastructure in a fast-paced digital landscape.
