Coalition expands Australian team with cyber experts

Today

Coalition, a provider of Active Insurance designed to prevent digital risk, has announced the addition of three cybersecurity professionals to its Australian team.

George Oosthuizen, Glen Scott, and Alec Snazelle have joined the company, reinforcing Coalition's commitment to enhancing cyber resilience for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Australia.

"Since inception, we've been focused on our not-so-secret plan to invest in an all-out cybersecurity platform with tools, technology, and intelligence to help protect all of our policyholders globally," said John Roberts, General Manager of Security at Coalition. "George, Glen, and Alec enable us to deliver the next phase of this plan in Australia."

George Oosthuizen joins Coalition's Security Support Centre in Melbourne. With more than 15 years of experience in cybersecurity architecture and threat detection, his previous role was as Senior Security Engineer at ZeroHash. Oosthuizen's expertise in designing resilient security frameworks will support Coalition's SME policyholders in mitigating risks and strengthening security measures.

Glen Scott, appointed as a Senior Security Analyst in Perth, offers a robust technical background in attack surface assessment, ethical hacking, incident response, and vulnerability remediation. Scott brings 25 years of local IT experience, including cybersecurity roles at HBF Health and Commonwealth Bank. His comprehensive understanding of infrastructure, network, and application technologies will be vital in advising SMEs on security improvements.

Alec Snazelle assumes the role of Managed Detection and Response Analyst in Canberra. With specialised knowledge in cybersecurity governance and compliance, particularly within the SME sector, Snazelle most recently worked at Deloitte. His capability in leveraging Coalition's new MDR offering distinguishes Coalition from traditional insurers.

"We are excited to welcome George, Glen, and Alec to the Coalition family. Their combined expertise significantly improves our ability to deliver Active Cyber Insurance locally," said Sam Weaver, Australian General Manager of Coalition. "Our mission is to enable Australian SMEs to achieve greater cyber resilience; George, Glen, and Alec joining reflects our commitment to that goal."

These new appointments are part of Coalition's strategic efforts to expand its presence in Australia as the local market continues to attract new digital threat actors. The company aims to safeguard Australian businesses from cyber risks and ensure ongoing business continuity.

Coalition entered the Australian market in November 2023, seeking to offer tailored insurance and cybersecurity solutions that protect SME data, assets, and operations. With these new hires, Coalition is well-equipped to maintain its services in the region.
