Console Connect expands data platform to New Zealand

Today

Console Connect has expanded its on-demand platform for intelligent data movement to New Zealand, now available at seven data centres in Auckland.

This expansion allows New Zealand businesses to have secure, dedicated access to public clouds hosted in Sydney, such as AWS, Google, Oracle, IBM, and Alibaba Cloud. Prior to this launch, accessing these hyperscale providers was challenging for local organisations due to the absence of live hyperscale data centres in New Zealand.

The introduction of Console Connect offers a high-performance private network that enhances speed, resilience, and security while automating traffic routing and bandwidth management. This move is aimed at providing New Zealand enterprises with greater flexibility, resilience, and redundancy when connecting to public clouds.

Michael Glynn, SVP of Digital Automated Innovation at Console Connect, commented, "With strong demand for network-as-a-service (NaaS) in New Zealand, the launch of Console Connect offers greater agility and performance for local businesses. A direct and protected route to data centres in Sydney creates more possibilities for hybrid and multi-cloud environments. By improving connectivity to hyperscale providers that were previously hard to engage, it opens up opportunities for New Zealand enterprises to access cloud and data centres across Asia Pacific and the rest of the world, giving them more choice and flexibility. Console Connect also routes traffic through private networks, avoiding the public Internet to reduce security risks and help maintain data sovereignty for cloud interconnections."

The expansion comes in light of major operators' plans to develop local data centres; however, these are yet to become operational. Currently, New Zealand businesses must rely on connections through Sydney to access public clouds. The deployment of Console Connect is expected to provide a notable improvement in performance and security, streamlining multi-cloud networking for local businesses.
