Dell & Nutanix expand partnership with PowerStore support
Dell has confirmed that the Nutanix Cloud Platform will soon support Dell PowerStore, expanding options for organisations seeking flexible infrastructure deployment.
Support for Dell PowerStore, which is the company's all-flash storage platform, marks a new stage in the collaboration between Dell and Nutanix. This move will provide a virtualisation option for external storage that utilises Dell storage technologies together with the Nutanix cloud operating model.
Customer demand
The integration is positioned as a response to requests from businesses for greater control and choice in how they manage and scale their IT environments. Both scale-up and scale-out growth requirements can be met by the PowerStore architecture, which has been engineered with these demands in mind.
Dell stated that organisations now expect not only performance but also flexibility and simplicity. According to the press release: "Today's organisations demand more than just performance-they expect flexibility, simplicity, and a clear path forward. At Dell Technologies, we're delivering on that expectation with an exciting new chapter in our collaboration with Nutanix."
Combination of capabilities
Dell and Nutanix have worked together previously on products such as XC Plus and PowerFlex. The addition of PowerStore on the Nutanix Cloud Platform is described as an extension of this ongoing collaboration, designed to offer customers more flexibility.
The press release continued: "With PowerStore, we're building on that foundation-bringing together Dell's data-centric innovation with Nutanix's cloud operating model. The result is a new level of flexibility for customers who want to take full advantage of Nutanix while building on trusted Dell infrastructure."
Key features
Several features are being emphasised in the joint offering. Among them is the integration of intelligent automation and simplified management via Dell's management systems and the Nutanix Prism management console. This combination is said to deliver enhanced VM-centric operations and automation capabilities.
The PowerStore design enables users to expand both performance and storage capacity independently, allowing for modular upgrades. This adaptability is intended to help organisations modernise their infrastructure without major disruptions.
Security is also being cited as a significant benefit, with built-in cyber protection and Nutanix's disaster recovery and network security offerings. The press release details: "Enterprise-Grade Resilience and Security: Built-in cyber protection combined with Nutanix's VM-centric disaster recovery, Flow virtual networking and Flow network security help ensure mission-critical workloads remain protected and always available."
Efficiency is another feature being promoted. PowerStore's always-on advanced data reduction technology is claimed to maximise storage efficiency without impacting workload performance. According to the release, this is "backed by Dell's industry-leading 5:1 guarantee on reducible data to help customers reduce storage costs."
Whether you're modernising existing environments or laying the groundwork for innovations like AI and real-time analytics, Nutanix support for PowerStore provides the performance and adaptability required to move forward with confidence.
Ongoing integration
The partnership between Dell and Nutanix appears set to continue developing, with further integrations planned. Dell has outlined that next year, Dell Private Cloud will expand to support Nutanix with a fully integrated solution based on disaggregated infrastructure. This includes automated lifecycle management, further integration with PowerFlex and PowerStore, and independent scaling of compute and storage resources.
The press release outlined future developments: "Early next year, Dell Private Cloud will expand to support Nutanix with a fully integrated solution built on disaggregated infrastructure. With automated lifecycle management, seamless integration with PowerFlex and PowerStore, and the ability to independently scale compute and storage, this solution reduces complexity, lowers cost, and ensures infrastructure remains in a continuously validated state."
Dell will also be introducing three new XC platforms using the latest PowerEdge servers. The upcoming platforms are expected to offer increased performance for Nutanix environments.
Dell and Nutanix emphasise that the ongoing alignment in their partnership is guided by customer requirements and a focus on providing adaptable options. As stated in the release, "Together, Dell and Nutanix are delivering choice without compromise-backed by enterprise-grade infrastructure, streamlined operations, and the flexibility to support where you are today and where you're going tomorrow."
