Dematic launches FD Shuttle for flexible APAC warehouse storage

Today

Dematic has introduced a new automated storage and retrieval system, the FD Shuttle, designed for the needs of businesses in the Asia-Pacific region.

The FD Shuttle system is designed to address the increasing demands for efficiency and flexibility in modern warehousing operations, particularly for companies experiencing fluctuating volumes or managing large numbers of SKUs. The system is manufactured locally within the region and features a rack-supported structure that does not require floor rails, aiming to reduce installation times and offer greater adaptability for different warehouse layouts.

The system supports case handling of up to 1,000 units per hour, with each payload reaching up to 50 kilograms. Storage heights of more than 20 metres are possible, which allows for high density utilisation of available warehouse space. The FD Shuttle is compatible with a wide range of storage containers, including cartons, totes, and boxes, and supports single, double, or triple-deep configurations. Dematic indicates that this versatility makes it suitable for sectors such as e-commerce, electronics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and general merchandise.

Steve Cheung, Senior Vice President – President Asia, China & MEA, Dematic, said, "With the FD Shuttle system, we've removed some of the traditional barriers to warehouse automation. Its floor rail-free structure provides our customers with significantly faster project delivery timelines and lower total cost of ownership. This solution specifically addresses the unique logistics challenges, diverse market requirements, and operational demands across the APAC region. Our local manufacturing and dedicated regional support ensure supply chain agility, scalability, and reliability."

The FD Shuttle system is the latest addition to Dematic's storage and retrieval technologies, which include solutions based on Dematic Multishuttle, Dematic Miniload, and AutoStore systems. Dematic states that the FD Shuttle offers the highest throughput among its solutions, with an emphasis on cost efficiency, storage density, and the ability to handle varying load sizes. Its modular architecture is aimed at allowing businesses to quickly scale their storage capabilities in response to shifting operational requirements.

Cheung added, "The FD Shuttle system solves real-world challenges our customers face every day. It relieves the pressures of modern supply chains— managing slower SKUs, rushing out urgent orders, adjusting to last-minute demand changes. It also has the precision needed for handling delicate or high value items with care. With local production and support, it's a solution that's built to grow with operations and keep pace with the complexity of the APAC market."

Dematic highlights that the FD Shuttle system's local manufacturing and regional support infrastructure are intended to help businesses in the Asia-Pacific region maintain resilient and scalable supply chains. The company believes that the removal of floor rail requirements and the modularity of the system can help businesses deploy automated storage and retrieval solutions more quickly and at lower overall costs, while maintaining the capacity to accommodate future operational changes.

The launch of the FD Shuttle system follows the company's ongoing product development efforts aimed at providing automation solutions tailored to the requirements of diverse customer profiles in the region.
