Detmold Group boosts global operations with unified cloud IT

Today

Detmold Group, the Australian family-owned packaging manufacturer, has completed a global IT transformation project in partnership with managed infrastructure solutions provider 11:11 Systems.

The project, finalised in 2024, was aimed at modernising and protecting Detmold's worldwide IT operations.

The collaboration introduced a unified cloud platform, improved international compliance, enhanced data protection, and enabled greater strategic focus for the company's IT team.

With operations in 17 countries and more than 1,100 IT users, Detmold Group had been facing increasing pressure to manage legacy systems while meeting the growing demand for accessible and secure digital infrastructure. The partnership with 11:11 Systems offered a comprehensive solution tailored to these global demands.

"There's a single platform that handles it all. We also have a single support contract for everything with direct access to 11:11 support staff and experts for each individual product," said Marc Koenecke, information and communications technology manager at Detmold Group.

"So, I would say that consolidation, as well as the ongoing collaboration with the 11:11 team, has been the biggest benefit of our partnership. It's like having an augmented infrastructure team," he added.

Detmold Group utilised a suite of services from 11:11 Systems, including 11:11 Cloud, Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) for Zerto, and Cloud Backup for Microsoft 365. These tools enabled the company to streamline its IT operations while strengthening its disaster recovery and data protection capabilities.

The transformation delivered a number of concrete outcomes for the business:

  • A unified cloud solution supporting seamless global operations

  • Enhanced compliance with international standards

  • A predictable and transparent cost structure for improved operational planning

  • Comprehensive data protection and recovery capabilities

  • A 30% increase in time available for strategic IT initiatives

As a result of these changes, Detmold has been able to redirect significant IT resources toward innovation and long-term planning, while also strengthening the resilience of its operations across multiple regions.

Serving major global food and retail brands, including McDonald's, Detmold Group manufactures sustainable packaging products and employs over 3,000 people worldwide.

The company has long placed emphasis on maintaining both its global reach and local roots.

The partnership with 11:11 Systems represents a key step in Detmold's ongoing efforts to modernise its infrastructure while upholding its values and operational integrity. Through this collaboration, the company has also reinforced its commitment to supply chain security and digital readiness.

The transformation continues to provide tangible benefits across Detmold's global operations, aligning with broader goals of efficiency and sustainability.
