Dynatrace introduces Session Replay, revamping mobile UX
Wed, 21st Apr 2021
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Users of Dynatrace's Digital Experience Module can now enjoy a movie-like view of a mobile user's experience, allowing digital teams to see every click, swipe, and tap from the user's perspective, thanks to a recent overhaul of the solution.

The new features are part of the software intelligence company's new Session Replay service, which opens the door for teams to further optimise the performance feature adoptions and conversions of their mobile apps. Additionally, teams can now use business analytics in native-mobile applications.

The enhancements also prioritise data privacy by design, meaning organisations in even the most highly regulated industries (who may need to comply with regulations such as GDPR) can leverage customer behaviour and experience data.

“Dynatrace has led the way with an all-in-one platform that combines end-to-end automatic and intelligent observability, digital business analytics, and digital experience monitoring,” says Dynatrace senior vice president of product management Steve Tack.

“This enables our customers to understand the entire user experience in context, as well as to ensure that new features are adopted, pipelines convert to revenue, and digital teams know precisely what to do to improve continuously.

“This is just not possible with point products or loosely integrated suite-of-tools approaches that can only provide fragmented keyhole views into customer experiences.

The enhancements come at a time when mobile use is proliferating rapidly — forcing enterprises to either keep up or become a digital laggard. Case in point: 80% of all retail eCommerce will be generated via mobile in 2021, according to research from Statista.

To help digital teams deliver the best possible native-mobile experiences, Dynatrace provides:

Dynatrace Session Replay

The new service optimises business outcomes by enabling developers, application, and business teams to easily review user sessions and understand how new features impact user journeys.

Data privacy by design

Dynatrace also provides role-based controls, enabling teams to customise data access based on their organisation's specific requirements.

Business analytics

Dynatrace can help teams to pinpoint a mobile application's impact on business KPIs, as well as deliver data from owned and third-party sources, including revenue trends, customer conversions, churn, and Apple App Store and Google Play ratings. Dynatrace also provides dashboards that are customisable by user segment.

Out-of-the-box support

Dynatrace support ventures wide to include the most widely used mobile development frameworks, ensuring all native-mobile capabilities extend to whichever platform teams are using to build native mobile applications. Dynatrace now supports Flutter, in addition to previously announced support for Android, Cordova, Ionic, iOS, React Native, and Xamarin.

“Dynatrace's digital experience monitoring and business analytics capabilities enable us to continuously improve user journeys and maximise conversions,” says Park ‘N Fly senior director of IT Ken Schirrmacher.

“Session Replay and business analytics for native-mobile applications will provide us with precise insights into a mobile user's experience from the user's vantage point.

“This allows our teams to prioritise new features and innovations that enhance our apps and maximise value for our business, all while ensuring data privacy.
