Employment Hero's SmartMatch tool slashes recruitment time

Wed, 17th Jul 2024

Employment Hero has launched a new tool, SmartMatch, which promises to cut two weeks off the traditional recruitment process. According to David Holland, Managing Director of Swag at Employment Hero, SmartMatch aims to ease the recruitment burden on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which often struggle to compete with larger businesses.

Holland stated, “We’re confident that SmartMatch deletes two weeks from the current recruitment process by eliminating this need for employers to go out and find their own candidates.”

SmartMatch reportedly contains over one million job seeker profiles, with an additional 10,000 candidates signing up every week. The tool is notable for being the first in the world to offer live candidate searches from within an HR system. It is integrated with Employment Hero’s own platform for employers and is powered by the employee super app, Swag, designed for job seekers.

One of SmartMatch's key features is its predictive hiring capabilities. It analyses a business’s organisational chart to predict hiring needs based on sector, size, location, and seasonal trends. This predictive approach aims to mitigate the costs and inefficiencies traditionally associated with recruitment, which the company claims often exceed AUD $5,000 on average for a single hire.

Employment Hero’s research indicates that 75% of SMEs face challenges competing for talent against bigger entities. Traditional methods are often slow and expensive, exacerbating this issue. “Our innovative approach marks the end of the 'pay and pray' recruitment model, ensuring a continuous talent pipeline that will save businesses thousands of dollars,” said Holland. Instead of writing job descriptions, placing advertisements, and sorting through numerous CVs, SmartMatch’s AI-driven approach aims to seamlessly match the most suitable candidates with the right roles.

The practical benefits of SmartMatch have been highlighted by Daniel Oliveira, HR Manager at Tradern Australia Care and Training Services. “When it comes to finding talent, SmartMatch is infinitely faster than the other options out there. Recruitment can be such a burden and this tool helps to ease that; it’s such a beneficial tool for small businesses that don’t have hiring teams,” Oliveira commented. He added that the tool has a high reply rate and that they have been able to hire candidates within a few days due to this efficiency.

Oliveira further noted the advantages of integrating the recruitment system into the Employment Hero platform. “Because the recruitment system is inside Employment Hero itself, it means that you collect all the information in one platform and add it all into their employee profile inside the HR platform. It saves so many hours of work and is better compliance-wise for keeping track of files. The integration of all the processes is the best feature it has. If everything can be done within the same system, it becomes much less work,” he explained.

According to the company, SmartMatch saves HR managers and recruiters up to 16 hours of administrative time in the search process. This potential time-saving aspect, combined with its AI-driven matching and predictive hiring capabilities, positions SmartMatch as a significant development in the recruitment industry.

Employment Hero serves nearly one-fifth of Australia’s private businesses. With the launch of SmartMatch, the company aims to streamline the employment process for SMEs, offering them a competitive edge in talent acquisition.
