Enterprise mobility management market more competitive than ever
Mon, 13th Nov 2017
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Enterprise mobility management platforms are evolving from tactical device management tools to broader unified end-user computing management platforms, with the market ‘more competitive than ever' and recording strong growth.

Strategy Analytics says the enterprise mobility management (EMM) market will hit US$1.8 billion this year, for year on year growth of 9.0%. By 2022, the market research firm expects EMM to account for US$2.2 billion globally.

According to Strategy Analytics, VMware/AirWatch, BlackBerry/Good Technology lead the EMM market with 19% and 18% market share – based on revenue share – respectively, in 2016. They were followed by MobileIron on 10%; and Citrix and Microsoft both on 9%. ‘Others' held 35% of the market in 2016.

Gina Luk, Strategy Analytics principal analyst of mobile workforce strategies, says “The EMM market is more competitive now than ever before and we have also seen SAP, IBM, SOTI, Sophos and Symantec fighting fiercely to seize EMM marketshare.

Luk says mobile security and BYOD are primary drivers behind EMM's growth.

Strategy Analytics says EMM platforms are evolving into unified end-user computing management platforms, crossing mobile devices, apps and data, as well as traditional computing platforms such as laptops and PCs.

“As mobility grows in the enterprise, EMM solutions will become centralised control point for how employees and devices connect to enterprise data and IT resources,” Strategy Analytics says.
