Tue, 23rd Apr 2024

F5 has announced two key appointments amongst its corporate leadership. Lyra Schramm has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer (CPO), while Kunal Anand assumes the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In their respective positions, Schramm and Anand will be part of F5’s executive leadership team, directly reporting to F5's President and CEO, François Locoh-Donou.

“Lyra and Kunal not only bring business acumen and fresh perspectives that will raise the bar for F5, but they are also humble, generous, and authentic leaders who embody our culture of excellence," said Locoh-Donou. He further added, "I look forward to the impact they will have on our business as we continue to power and protect applications used by millions of people around the world."

As the CPO, Schramm will be driving people initiatives that will assist F5’s goal of bringing a better digital world to life and poising the company for continued growth. Before joining F5, Schramm held a significant position as Vice President, Strategy and Innovation at Google and other senior roles at AWS and the Gates Foundation. These roles have significantly equipped her in aligning people strategies with business objectives in high-growth, innovative, and philanthropic sectors.

In response to her appointment, Schramm commented, “F5’s human-first and high-performance culture resonates deeply with me. I am drawn to the opportunity to infuse our workplace with a culture of innovation that inspires our employees to reach higher and drive meaningful impact."

Similarly, Anand, the new CTO, will set the technology vision for F5, making use of his extensive expertise in areas including cybersecurity and data. Anand previously held dual roles of CTO and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Imperva and was a co-founder of the application security startup Prevoty. He has also held senior roles at BBC Worldwide and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, significantly contributing to his experience and expertise in app security. His role at F5 will aid the company's goal of securing every app, everywhere including in API security, a critical aspect of AI security.

Anand’s response to his appointment reflects his excitement, "F5 is the industry leader in multicloud application security and delivery. I’m thrilled to join the immensely talented F5 team at such a pivotal time as the industry moves to better address complexity and security in ways that help organisations unlock the potential of distributed computing and AI."

These appointments of Schramm and Anand are crucial steps for F5 as it continues its efforts to secure, power, and protect applications across the globe. Their respective expertise and innovative perspectives are sure to contribute significantly to F5’s growth and operations.
