FinTech Australia announces Intersekt 2024 conference details

Tue, 3rd Sep 2024

FinTech Australia has unveiled its plans for the upcoming Intersekt 2024 conference, which will feature new research from the Reserve Bank of Australia on Central Bank issued Digital Currency. The conference is set to also highlight discussions on fintech innovations at Bendigo Bank, AMP Bank, and NAB.

The event is scheduled to take place on September 18 and 19 at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne. It aims to explore a range of pertinent issues including the Consumer Data Right, challenges in the current fundraising environment, and the complexities of corporate partnerships with fintech firms.

Rehan D'Almeida, CEO of FinTech Australia, remarked, "We’ve really focused this year’s Intersekt line-up on setting the agenda for the year ahead and showcasing the positive impact fintech has on the broader economy." He added that for the first time, submissions for speakers were accepted from the community, resulting in 100 applications within a few weeks. This has helped FinTech Australia refine the event programme significantly.

"With the agenda we’ve put on this year, we’re expecting a significant turnout from those who support the fintech industry too such as corporate partners, regulators, and investors. We’ve refocused our dinners, satellite events, and the main agenda to provide as much networking opportunity as possible," added D'Almeida.

Last year's Intersekt saw over 1,100 delegates, up from 900 the previous year and 800 in 2022. The 2023 event boasted participation from over 430 fintechs, 130 corporate and support services companies, and 15 government agencies. "We’re once again expecting a heavy turnout this year," stated D'Almeida. "We’ve sold out now a week prior to the event two years in a row. If you are interested in attending, please register early to ensure your place."

D'Almeida also acknowledged the support from their Gold Partner, BC Payments, and the Victorian Government. "Intersekt wouldn’t be possible without the support of our Gold Partner, BC Payments and the ongoing support from the Victorian Government through the Department of Jobs, Skills and Regions. We want to thank them both for their continued support of both this event and the fintech ecosystem," he highlighted.

Piers Cracknell, General Manager of BC Payments Australia, expressed excitement about sponsoring Intersekt 2024. "BC Payments is excited to once again sponsor Intersekt 2024 in support of FinTech Australia’s pivotal role in nurturing the vibrant Australian fintech landscape. In the last year, we’ve seen increasing focus on improving cross-border payments and incoming transactions, as Australia positions itself as a gateway for international trade," said Cracknell. He emphasised that continued innovation in simplifying financial processes is enhancing Australia's reputation as a leader in the global financial ecosystem.
