FYI, this story is more than a year old

Fujitsu Australia has announced it has been selected as the provider of the iSAFE Integrated Offender Management System for the Department for Correctional Services (DCS) in South Australia.

Under the multi-year agreement, Fujitsu will lead the overhaul of South Australia's legacy offender information management system to support DCS in navigating the growing complexities in the sector with the roll-out of the new iSAFE system, which is expected to be fully operational in 2023.

The announcement follows an extensive procurement process for the digital transformation program that began after an initial $15 million in funding was announced by the South Australian government in 2019.

Fujitsu states the company will implement the new system in partnership with Syscon Justice Systems, a Software-as-a-Service specialist with a track record in servicing state corrections agencies in Australia and abroad.

Fujitsu Australia head of Industry Public Sector Dave Lennon says, "Fujitsu is pleased to be selected as a trusted digital transformation partner by the South Australian government to undertake this project."

He says, "We look forward to partnering with the Department for Correctional Services to deliver transformational innovation thats set to deliver significantly improved system functionality and efficiencies and underpin agile decision making for the states corrections sector."

In a statement, the Hon. Vincent Tarzia MP, Minister for the Department for Correctional Services in South Australia welcomed the partnership with Fujitsu and the much needed upgrade to DCS's information sharing capability.

Fujitsu will design, test, implement the iSAFE solution and provide five years of ongoing support and maintenance, with the option of extension, Minister Tarzia.

iSAFE and End to End Case Management, South Australia Department for Correctional Services executive director Annette McKee says, "The new Fujitsu/Syscon system offers an exciting opportunity for more streamlined and digitised business operations that will support DCS decision making and more end-to-end case management across corrections from entry to exit."

The new iSAFE system is designed to ensure sensitive and critical information related to offenders can be accessed across all relevant law enforcement agencies both throughout South Australia and across the country during unfolding operations, the company states.

Other benefits of iSAFE include the removal of paper-based processes, improved cyber security, enhanced case management and better support for real time access to information to ensure safer decision making.
