FYI, this story is more than a year old

Fujitsu has been named the winner of VMware's 2021 Global Partner Social Impact Partner of the Year Award.

The company has announced it was given the award as part of the VMware Partner Achievement Awards program. The award celebrates partners for having a global positive impact through the use of VMware technologies. Fujitsu was recognised by VMware for the results it provided to businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Included in the nomination were some FUJITSU Work Life Shift projects, such as the 72-hour turnaround in deploying a solution that enabled healthcare professionals in Catalonia, Spain, to remotely access critical applications and data. The solution, for Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative, uses VMware Horizon to manage virtual desktops and applications and is backed by VMware Cloud on AWS to protect and scale the applications.

In a separate virtualisation project, rolled out in three days, Fujitsu enabled medical staff to work collaboratively in a fast-changing environment.

“This year's VMware Global Partner Social Impact Award winners highlight our partners who are not only fantastic VMware partners but also exceptional global citizens,” says VMware SVP of worldwide commercial and partner sales, Sandy Hogan.

“In the unprecedented times that 2020 brought us, VMware is proud to see Fujitsu honoured for its ability to help customers deliver under extraordinary circumstances. Technology was the connective tissue for so many, and Fujitsu helped our customers to use a range of VMware tools for the greater good in some of their most vulnerable situations.

Fujitsu's SVP of global supply chain, Takashi Yamanishi, says Fujitsu aims to make the world more sustainable by building trust in society through innovation. To do this, he says, it relies on productive collaborations with long-term strategic partners, such as VMware, to deliver its global FUJITSU Work Life Shift vision.

“This approach enables organisations to thrive in our fast-changing world,” says Yamanish.

“With many thousands of successful collaborations under our belts, we are applying our expertise to help businesses in all industries leverage virtualisation and keep their workforces empowered, productive, and cared for during this challenging year. We look forward to continuing to deploy solutions to enable the highly talented, resilient, and adaptive workforces that all businesses need today.

The 2021 VMware Partner Achievement Awards recognise regional and Global Alliance level winners in the Partner Digital Transformation, Partner Innovation, Partner Lifecycle Services, Partner Value, and Partner Social Impact categories. VMware also named sole winners in the Partner Industry, Partner Collaboration, and overall VMware Partner of the Year categories. The program was conducted in partnership with IDC, which helped review and evaluate award submissions against the criteria for each category.
