Gallagher Security launches AR training platform in Australia

Mon, 27th May 2024

Gallagher Security has launched an innovative Augmented Reality Training platform in Australia, marking a significant advancement in the field of security training.

The initiative underscores Gallagher's ongoing commitment to innovation, enhancing accessibility to security training opportunities for its partners.

The company has collaborated with Altoura, a leader in immersive training platforms, to develop the first Augmented Reality training environment. The inaugural course, Perimeter Fence Installer, leverages cutting-edge technology to integrate with Gallagher’s renowned perimeter security solutions. Kirk Jarvis, Gallagher Security Australia’s Training Solutions Engineer, hailed the new platform as a revolutionary step for their Channel Partners, offering immersive training experiences without the need to leave the office or home.

“Our foray into learning through an Augmented Reality environment will revolutionise how our Channel Partners interact with our pulsed perimeter product. We will be taking them on an immersive adventure into all things Pulsed Perimeter, from the comfort of their office or home. The significant benefits to our Channel Partners include real-time guidance, reduced downtime, while negating the need to travel into training facilities,” stated Jarvis.

Bennie Pienaar, Senior Training Engineer for Gallagher Security Australia, emphasised the success of the Pulse Perimeter Fence training module developed in the Augmented Reality environment. He noted that it lays a firm foundation for further AR training modules across Gallagher's diverse training verticals. “The module is developed to experience practical Pulse Perimeter fence construction and configuration, while learning the Gallagher fundamentals required to build a Pulse Perimeter fence,” Pienaar explained.

This latest development builds on the foundation laid by Gallagher’s Virtual Classroom launched in 2023, which allowed Channel Partners to access trainer-led courses remotely. However, the reliance on trainer travel and kit movement posed challenges to meeting the increasing demand for perimeter training. The introduction of the Augmented Reality training is designed to overcome these obstacles, facilitating more effective and widespread training.

Craig Schutte, Gallagher Security’s Executive Vice President for Asia Pacific, India, Middle East, and Africa (APAC and IMEA), highlighted the commitment to improving certification rates and providing enhanced support and training opportunities for their Channel Partners. “Over the past, almost two years, 1700 APAC and IMEA Channel Partners have been certified in access courses, while a smaller percentage of technicians have received perimeter product certification due to the reliance on providing physical equipment for training. We’re committed to improving those numbers and offering greater support and training opportunities for our Channel Partners. The Augmented Reality Perimeter Fence Installer Course will help us do that,” Schutte conveyed.

Schutte emphasised the strategic focus of the training team in delivering world-class training and workplace development opportunities that empower Channel Partners and End Users, regardless of their location. “Augmented Reality training will create increased opportunities for our Channel Partners and allow us to offer the same convenience as online and virtual classroom training while creating a more immersive and interactive learning experience,” he added.
