Gallagher Security raises AUD $57,000 for Bravehearts charity

Mon, 7th Jul 2025

Gallagher Security and its partners have raised AUD $57,000 in support of Bravehearts during their annual Charity Golf Day in Queensland.

The event, now in its third year, brought together more than 130 participants, including Gallagher Security's team, channel partners, end users, technology partners, consultants, and sponsors. The day took place at The Palms Golf Course at Sanctuary Cove, with attendees competing across 18 holes and participating in fundraising activities.

Record tally

This year's event marked the highest fundraising amount achieved by Gallagher Security through the Charity Golf Day, with the sum donated to Bravehearts, a not-for-profit organisation focused on preventing and treating child sexual abuse in Australia. The record total was made possible through the combined efforts of sponsors such as ADT Security, Assa Abloy, B&R Enclosures, Convergint, Hexagon, Optic Security, PMT, Salto, Securcom, Seme Solutions, and Traka, as well as print partner CV Services Group.

Craig Schutte, Executive Vice President for Asia Pacific and India, Middle East, and Africa at Gallagher Security, highlighted the importance of the event and the support it receives:

"We are thrilled with the success of this year's event and are grateful for the continued support of our sponsors and all those who took part last week. Coming together to positively impact and support the critically important work of Bravehearts is something we remain firmly committed to, and I'd like to thank everyone who took part for their support and participation at this year's event."

Schutte also noted Gallagher Security's ongoing commitment to supporting causes benefiting children. "As a company, people are the cornerstone of everything we do, and we are committed to continuing our longstanding support of Bravehearts and together unlocking more opportunities to improve the lives of Australian children impacted by sexual abuse," said Schutte.

Impact on Bravehearts

The contribution comes at a time when, according to Bravehearts, one in four Australians has experienced child sexual abuse. The funds raised from the golf day will directly support Bravehearts' services and programmes aimed at protection, education, and support for affected children.

Alison Geale, CEO of Bravehearts, thanked Gallagher Security and the broader security industry for their ongoing support:

"Bravehearts is deeply appreciative of the ongoing support from the Gallagher Security Australia team, whose contributions continue to play a vital role in sustaining our services.
"Their commitment, particularly through their annual Charity Golf Day, helps address funding gaps, ensuring the continued delivery of our support, and the expansion of our work in Australian schools and early learning centres.
"We are grateful for Gallagher and the wider security industry's support. It is instrumental in advancing our mission to provide a coordinated approach to the prevention and treatment of child sexual abuse."

Kylie Hewitt, Bravehearts National Partnerships Manager, said that Gallagher's 2025 Charity Golf Day had marked the largest fundraising event by a Bravehearts partner since the organisation's formation more than 25 years ago.

"$57,000 goes an extremely long way at Bravehearts. It can fund 380 specialist trauma informed counselling sessions for children affected by sexual abuse. It can also help Bravehearts educate over 4,750 children about personal safety, which could change the trajectory of children's lives," said Hewitt.

Community involvement

Gallagher Security National Events Manager, Nicola Johnson, expressed satisfaction at the event's successful rescheduling after its earlier postponement due to weather. She also credited sponsors and local businesses for their roles in raising the total for Bravehearts.

"Our Charity Golf Day is an annual highlight, and one the team proudly gets behind. Since its inception in 2023, we've seen support for the event increase year-on-year, and we simply could not do it without our sponsors. This year we're proud to introduce our Platinum Sponsor, Securcom, whose support of Bravehearts has been integral over the years," Johnson said.

She noted, "Alongside this, several community-minded Queensland businesses stepped forward with donations for a highly sought after raffle to boost the amount we could fundraise for Bravehearts. Worth over AUD $7,000, our thanks go to Balter Brewing, Burleigh Brewing Co, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Drummond Golf Biggera Waters, Gemelli Broadbeach, Holy Ship, Johnson Controls, Kendor Distillery, Porsche Centre Gold Coast, Ray White Shore Group, Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club, Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach, Stratus and Vela Estate for their generous support."

Ongoing support

Bravehearts, which has operated for more than 25 years, relies on external support and fundraising initiatives to maintain its operations. Gallagher's local channel partners were encouraged to bring their customers to participate and support the event, also providing networking opportunities for businesses within the industry.

The Charity Golf Day forms part of Gallagher Security's broader relationship with Bravehearts, which began in 2022. This includes supporting the annual Bravehearts Ball, Bravehearts' internal golf day, and the ongoing support and maintenance of the security system donated to Bravehearts' headquarters, installed in collaboration with Securcom.
