Gigamon appoints Simon Oliver to Channel Sales Lead for APAC

Today

Gigamon has promoted Simon Oliver to Director of Channel Sales, Asia Pacific, as it aims to address increased demand for deep observability across the region.

Simon Oliver, who is based in Melbourne, will now be responsible for overseeing channel strategy and execution across the broader Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This new role comes after his term leading the channel business in Australia and New Zealand, during which he focused on partner engagement, enablement, and aligning channel operations with Gigamon's evolving go-to-market priorities.

John Giacomini, Chief Revenue Officer at Gigamon, said: "Simon is a proven leader and a powerful advocate for our partner ecosystem, and this new role reflects our continued commitment to Gigamon customers and partners in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region. As we continue to expand our footprint across the region, Simon's experience and strategic vision will be vital in driving deeper collaboration and unlocking new growth opportunities for Gigamon and our channel."

The appointment comes as organisations in Australia and across APAC face a surge in cyberattacks, increasing regulatory scrutiny, and greater complexity in managing hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure. These trends have placed cybersecurity at the forefront of business priorities within the region.

The need for deep observability has been emphasised by recent findings. According to the 2024 Hybrid Cloud Security Survey, 83 percent of Australian IT and security leaders consider deep observability to be a foundational element of cloud security. However, organisations continue to deal with limited visibility across their hybrid cloud environments, challenges with encrypted traffic, and difficulties ensuring security tools are efficient at scale.

Gigamon's Deep Observability Pipeline aims to address these issues by delivering network-derived telemetry to cloud, security, and observability tools. This approach is designed to reduce risk, optimise network traffic, and improve the efficiency of security tools by up to 90 percent. The company's channel partners across APAC are collaborating on solutions to enhance the security and management of hybrid cloud infrastructure for customers.

Simon Oliver said, "In this environment, strong channel partnerships are essential to helping customers build resilience and stay ahead of evolving threats."

He added, "Our partners need to supply customers with the right solutions to allow them to be proactive, rather than reactive, and that is exactly what Gigamon brings to the channel. I'm excited to work closely with our partners across the region to bring the power of deep observability to more organisations and strengthen cybersecurity outcomes."

Gigamon continues to focus on its channel-first strategy in the APAC region, investing in partner ecosystem growth through regional awards, enablement programmes, and co-selling initiatives. These activities are intended to support the growth of both channel partners and customers.
