Google propels AI advancements with Gemini era innovations
Google has put its Artificial Intelligence (AI) developments into high gear as it embarks on the next stage of its Gemini era. Since its inception in December last year, Gemini, which is Google's most accomplished AI model, has been making significant strides, integrating AI into a variety of Google's services to make them increasingly useful for users.
Some of the essential announcements reflecting Google's ambitious AI plans include the adoption of the name Gemini to replace Bard. The change aims to mirror the advanced technology engrained at the core of the product. Furthermore, Gemini will be widely available across several platforms. It will support 40 languages on the web and will be accessible via a new Gemini app for Android in addition to the Google app on iOS devices.
The company is set to roll out Gemini on Android and iOS phones in the U.S., initially in English, starting immediately. A full-scale launch is also scheduled for Singapore in the forthcoming weeks. This move is seen as a significant step towards bringing forward the benefits of Google's AI innovations to a global audience.
Google also introduced the much-anticipated Gemini Advanced, offering a new, more immersive, and highly capable AI experience. This development allows users access to Ultra 1.0, the company's most extensive and state-of-the-art AI model. Famed for its exceptional proficiency at intricate tasks such as coding, logical reasoning, understanding complex instructions, and collaborating on creative projects, Gemini Advanced is expected to revolutionise the AI experience for users.
Gemini Advanced allows for more extended, detailed conversations. It transforms itself into a personal tutor, an assistant for advanced coding tasks, and a helper for digital creators looking to evolve their ideas into tangible creations. The new offering will be available as part of the newly introduced Google One AI Premium plan, which is priced at USD $19.99 a month, following a two-month trial that is available free of charge.
In extending Gemini's integration, Duet AI will soon embrace Gemini for Google Workspace and Google Cloud. In the near future, consumers with the Google One AI Premium plan will be able to utilise Gemini's exceptional capabilities in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet.
Enthusiasm was palpable from the teams behind the product, evident from CEO Sundar Pichai's blog post detailing the exciting Gemini era and Sissie Hsiao's (VP/GM, Gemini Experiences and Google Assistant) blog post on the newly renamed Gemini, the Gemini app, and the highly advanced Gemini Advanced.
Google's commitment to leveraging Gemini's AI capabilities is set to push the boundaries of what's achievable, bringing high-level artificial intelligence into the daily lives of its global users. Today, Google is one of the largest and most influential technology companies globally, offering a wide range of products and services beyond its original search engine, including Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive, and the Android operating system, among others.
