GovDC facilities ranked fourth in resilience test

12 Dec 2017

NSW GovDC welcomed the recent news of Metronode being ranked in the top five most resilient data center operators of the year.

Metronode operates the two Government data centers which have achieved 100% uptime since establishment.

Simon Geraghty, Government technology platforms executive director, says data centre resilience is more important than ever as GovDC continues to grow.

“Our clients expect class-leading facilities and 100% uptime, and that’s what our GovDC program provides through Metronode’s data centres,” says Geraghty.

“Unexpected downtime comes at a great cost to companies and we’re pleased to see that Metronode continues to provide a resilient and robust service for our clients.”

Metronode was ranked fourth in Cloudscene’s latest report, Fast 50 Most Resilient Data Center Operators in 2017.

Cloudscene analysed the resilience of 150 global data centre operators against Tier certification data through Uptime Institute to shortlist the top 50 service providers.

Metronode has also been named Australia’s Data Center Provider of the Year in the Frost and Sullivan 2017 Australia Excellence Awards in Sydney on December 7.

In March, the company was named as Australia’s Best Data Center Operator at the inaugural CommsDay Edison Awards.

GovDC provides colocation, marketplace, and identity management services to Australian public bodies and not for profit organisations.

It has data centres where organizations can choose from a wide range of managed services delivered by NSW prequalified suppliers, and leverage their secure connection to the public cloud ecosystems.

Its marketplace service is a central online capability which provides choice for NSW government agencies to shift thinking toward cloud workload management by simplifying the ability for suppliers to clarify business and value propositions through a simple enquiry and search engine.

GovDC uses the NSW Identity Hub as the single sign-on solution for NSW government employees to access applications and services securely while reducing administration effort.
