HCLSoftware unveils BigFix SRO model with Agentic AI
HCLSoftware has launched a new operating model for its BigFix platform that brings IT and security operations onto a single, cloud-native system, aimed at organisations in the UK and other markets facing rising cyber risk.
The Secure Resilient Operations, or SRO, model is the latest stage in the evolution of BigFix. It focuses on a unified approach to endpoint management and security remediation across hybrid IT estates.
HCLSoftware is the software division of Indian technology group HCLTech. It supplies tools for IT operations, security and automation to enterprises worldwide.
The company said many organisations now use multiple tools for endpoint and vulnerability management. It said this often ranges from four tools to as many as 14.
HCLSoftware said this fragmentation creates security silos and operational friction. It said unmanaged or poorly managed devices often act as entry points for ransomware and other attacks.
It also pointed to slow remediation cycles as a driver of cyber risk. Vulnerabilities can remain unpatched for more than 30 days in many organisations.
The company cited forecasts that global cybercrime costs could reach USD $10.5 trillion a year by 2025. It said this backdrop increases pressure on IT and security teams to simplify operations and improve response times.
“The time for siloed operations has passed. Our strategy is centered on enabling unified, proactive defense,” said Navin Sabharwal, Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager, HCLSoftware. “Our SaaS model, Agentic AI capabilities, and platform innovations are all working together to help customers lower risk, remove complexity, and operate securely at scale.”
The SRO model sits on top of the existing BigFix platform. It attempts to merge IT operations functions, such as patching and configuration, with security workflows, such as vulnerability remediation.
BigFix was originally built as an endpoint management and patching product. HCLSoftware has since expanded it to cover more automation and security use cases.
The latest update introduces a cloud-based version of the platform called BigFix SaaS Remediate. This runs as software-as-a-service and does not require traditional on-premise infrastructure.
HCLSoftware said the SaaS deployment model shortens the time organisations need to start patching and remediating endpoints. It also said the subscription approach aligns with mid-market customers that want less complex infrastructure.
Mid-market focus
The company is targeting mid-size enterprises that it says face many of the same security and compliance demands as large firms. These organisations often have smaller teams and more limited budgets.
HCLSoftware said these customers want quicker deployment and simpler management of security and IT tools. It said the SRO model addresses this through a single platform and a SaaS option.
The firm also highlighted the rise of hybrid environments. Many businesses now mix on-premise systems, private cloud and public cloud services.
BigFix has been adapted to work across these different environments. It covers a range of endpoints including servers, laptops and other client devices.
Agentic AI push
A central feature of the new model is BigFix AEX, which HCLSoftware describes as an Agentic AI layer for IT operations. The company said this adds context-aware automation on top of the core platform.
HCLSoftware said BigFix AEX supports autonomous detection of issues and impact-aware decision making. It also said the system uses continuous learning from data across the environment.
The aim is an “always-on” model for IT operations. The tool coordinates responses across IT and security workflows instead of leaving each function to act separately.
HCLSoftware said early adopters report measurable benefits. These include up to an 88% rise in first-call resolution rates for issues handled by support teams and faster problem closure.
Platform changes
Over the past year HCLSoftware has made several changes to BigFix in support of the SRO model. These include improvements in speed, scalability and user interface design.
The company said it has introduced a converged interface for IT and security teams. It also said it has delivered a tenfold increase in scalability for the platform.
The firm stated that these enhancements give teams more visibility across endpoints. It said staff can see what is happening on devices in near real time and can act more quickly.
HCLSoftware said this reduces manual work in day-to-day operations. It also said it supports more consistent processes across global environments.
The company markets these features as a way for customers to maintain continuity of business services. It links this to fewer outages caused by unpatched vulnerabilities or misconfigurations.
The SRO model is built as a single platform that covers risk reduction, cost control and operational simplification. It attempts to replace multiple IT and security point tools with one system.
HCLSoftware said customers can run hybrid environments with more confidence and consistency when they use one system. It said this can also reduce audit and compliance overheads.
“This year marks a pivotal acceleration in our platform evolution,” added Kalyan Kumar, Chief Product Officer, HCLSoftware. “With BigFix SaaS Remediate, our converged UI, 10x scalability improvements, and the emergence of Agentic AI, we are delivering the automation and intelligence organizations need to reduce operational cost and achieve true Secure Resilient Operations.”
