Hipages Group appoints CTO & CPO for marketplace transformation
Wed, 5th Jul 2023

Hipages Group, a prominent player in the Australian home improvement industry, has announced strategic organizational changes to align with its transformation into a cutting-edge Software as a Service (SaaS) platform.

Herry Wiputra, who formerly held a combined Chief Product and Technology Officer role, will now focus solely on product as the Chief Product Officer. Meanwhile, Jeremy Burton has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer. Burton’s responsibility will be to create a technology-first environment, whereas Wiputra will be centred on product development.

Roby Sharon-Zipser, hipages Group co-founder and CEO, says, “hipages Group has changed dramatically over recent years. Looking forward, our strategy is in evolving from a marketplace to a platform growth business, with the shift toward a single tradie platform delivering a compelling proposition for tradie customer retention. We’ve close to doubled the product and engineering teams over the past five years, and there are no better leaders than Herry and Jeremy to carry this momentum forward.”

Wiputra and Burton have a history of successful collaboration. They have diverse experience, with Burton having been the VP of Engineering at hipages Group for over two years. Wiputra has played a pivotal role in building a culture of empowerment and collaboration, doubling the size and capability of the Group’s engineering team over the past five years.

Wiputra expressed his enthusiasm by saying, “The business is on a growth trajectory and the implementation of two distinct roles will allow heightened focus. When I joined hipages Group, it was more efficient for the Product and Tech roles to be combined. I’ve learnt a lot over the past five years, and when Jeremy took on the role of VP of Engineering, my ambition was to get him to CTO, so I can focus on product and strategy. I’m proud to see that come to fruition, and for the next phase of hipages Group.”

Burton adds, “We already have great momentum building out our marketplace and modernising our technology stack. We have a great team in place to execute our evolution to a platform business. As a newly appointed executive, I couldn’t be more excited to leverage the team’s engagement and culture to deliver hipages’ single tradie platform.”

This marks a critical phase in hipages Group's evolution, as the company aims for rapid advancements in becoming a sustainable platform growth business.
