Hitachi Vantara & NVIDIA join forces for AI solutions project
Hitachi Vantara has announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to develop and deliver a new generation of transformational artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The partnership's ambitious project, known as Hitachi iQ, is designed to drive industry-specific AI outcomes to provide bespoke solutions to businesses worldwide.
Emerging data-intensive technologies such as generative AI are rapidly altering the landscape of business operations, often placing heavy demands on IT infrastructure. According to an S&P Global Market Intelligence report, only 32% of organisations are consistently able to support internal AI workload demand. Hitachi Vantara aims to address this growing problem by offering hybrid cloud-enabled AI capabilities for faster and more actionable insights.
Sheila Rohra, CEO of Hitachi Vantara, emphasised the potential of the collaboration and the new portfolio: "Successful collaboration is built to meet customers' needs, both for today and the future. This collaboration empowers us to integrate NVIDIA's AI leadership with Hitachi Vantara's expertise in future-facing hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions and services to help our customers establish a data foundation for innovation".
Underpinned by NVIDIA's most advanced AI technologies and Hitachi Vantara's next-generation storage platforms, the Hitachi iQ portfolio aims to accelerate digital transformation in industrial and enterprise markets. It will offer multiple data storage consumption models, facilitating better on-premises performance and higher return on investment. The ambitious initiative's first offering, powered by NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPUs, is expected to launch in the first quarter of Hitachi's fiscal year.
Welcoming the collaboration with Hitachi Vantara, Charlie Boyle, vice president of DGX platforms at NVIDIA, stated: "Enterprises across industries are building AI factories to turn their data into intelligence. Hitachi Vantara customers will be able to create AI Centres of Excellence to turbocharge their generative AI strategies".
In line with the drive to expand AI possibilities, Hitachi announced the creation of the Hitachi Generative AI Center of Excellence last year. As part of a deeper relationship with NVIDIA, Hitachi will develop OT-specific foundational models, becoming one of the first organisations to establish industry-specific generative AI models to cater to digital transformation needs driven by data. Furthermore, with the help of Hitachi iQ, Hitachi and its subsidiary and partner ecosystem aim to reveal the full potential of AI to their customers, thereby enhancing their enterprise.
