Hitachi Vantara unveils VSP 360 to simplify data management

Today

Hitachi Vantara has launched Virtual Storage Platform 360 (VSP 360), a unified management software solution aimed at simplifying data infrastructure management for enterprises.

The platform is designed to support block, file, object and software-defined storage, bringing disparate data management tools into a single interface. This consolidation is intended to give IT teams, including those with limited storage expertise, greater control over hybrid cloud deployments, predictive insights through AIOps technologies, and simplified data lifecycle governance.

Many organisations today face challenges managing complex data environments spread across various storage systems, data silos, and workloads, according to the company. These challenges are exacerbated by stretched IT resources and growing demands for compliance and artificial intelligence readiness. Supporting this, a recently referenced survey found that the volume of data businesses must manage is expected to rise by 122% by 2026, in large part driven by the adoption of AI. The survey highlighted that many IT leaders are deploying AI before their data infrastructure is fully prepared, leading to a period of experimentation as they seek to balance the costs and benefits of these technologies.

VSP 360 incorporates management tools for monitoring key performance indicators such as storage capacity utilisation and overall system health. This, according to Hitachi Vantara, helps to deliver optimal system performance and efficient resource management. The platform utilises AIOps observability to improve visibility and dismantle data silos, and offers streamlined deployment of VSP One data services tailored to customers' specific business needs.

Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, stated: "VSP 360 represents a bold step forward in unifying the way enterprises manage their data. It's not just a new management tool—it's a strategic approach to modern data infrastructure that gives IT teams complete command over their data, wherever it resides. With built-in AI and automation and by making it available via SaaS, Private, or via your mobile phone, we're empowering our customers to make faster, smarter decisions and eliminate the traditional silos that slow innovation."

The features launched with VSP 360 are organised into three primary categories. The "Control" function offers orchestration of hybrid cloud infrastructure and unified fleet management for different storage types, enabling quick deployment and management of data across both cloud and on-premises environments. The "Observe" feature provides visibility and predictive insights using AIOps analytics accessible by various means, including SaaS and mobile, to monitor system performance, capacity, security and health. The "Govern" component enhances policy enforcement, compliance and lifecycle management, supporting workloads such as AI, cybersecurity, and personally identifiable information (PII) classification.

VSP 360 is developed to suit organisations of all sizes, aiming to provide a flexible, scalable and intelligent data infrastructure. The company noted that it reduces operational overhead and consolidates complex management environments, which helps IT teams address rising demands more efficiently.

Dan Pittet, Senior Solutions Architect at Stoneworks Technologies, said: "VSP 360 gives our customers the unified visibility and control they've been asking for. The ability to manage block, file, object, and software-defined storage from a single AI-driven platform helps streamline operations and reduce complexity across hybrid environments. It's especially valuable for IT teams with limited resources who need to respond quickly to evolving data demands without compromising performance or governance."

The new solution integrates data lifecycle management, supporting AI, PII discovery, cybersecurity and infrastructure-as-a-service use cases, providing coverage for a wide range of operational requirements. It also delivers compliance-ready governance reinforced by VSP One's 100% data availability guarantee, and includes performance and sustainability guarantees previously announced by Hitachi Vantara.

Ashish Nadkarni, Group Vice President and General Manager, Worldwide Infrastructure Research at IDC, commented: "VSP 360 hits the mark for what modern enterprises need. It goes beyond monitoring to deliver true intelligence across the storage lifecycle. The solution's robust data resiliency helps businesses maintain continuous operations and protect their critical assets, even in the face of unexpected disruptions. By integrating advanced analytics, automation, and policy enforcement, Hitachi Vantara is giving customers the agility and resilience needed to thrive in a data-driven economy."
