Humanforce aids Southern Cross Care in reducing staff loss

Today

Humanforce has joined forces with Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) to significantly decrease staff turnover rates within SCCQ's facilities.

SCCQ, a not-for-profit providing aged care services for over four decades, employs more than 1,300 staff and serves around 2,300 individuals in 13 aged care homes and five retirement villages throughout Queensland. The organisation has faced industry pressures, including those stemming from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and staff shortages. As a response, SCCQ sought to modernise its workforce management processes.

Adam Priest, Head of People and Culture at SCCQ, highlighted the necessity for the updated system, stating, "Southern Cross Care Queensland's previous rostering system was at end of life. It hadn't kept up with the growth in our organisation and the changes in our industry." He added, "We wanted to reduce the administrative burden on our managers, who were spending most of their days trying to fill shifts, swapping rosters around, and creating future rosters. The introduction of Humanforce [spanning workforce management, HR and wellbeing solutions] has played a big part in how we've managed to reduce our turnover rate by more than half."

The integration of Humanforce's solutions, particularly featuring the Work App, Time & Attendance, Rostering & Scheduling, and Wellbeing, revolutionised how SCCQ manages its workforce and enhances the employee experience. SCCQ's employee Net Promoter Score has climbed to an average of 42, a figure markedly higher than the industry norm of -7.

Humanforce's technology facilitates automated processes, real-time visibility, and streamlined access to essential information. Of particular importance is Humanforce's Rostering & Scheduling feature, with Priest noting its efficiency: "In our first pay fortnight just at one of our sites alone, there were over 300 shifts that were filled by pushing out available shifts through the mobile app. That's 300 shifts that someone didn't need to make phone calls for and we didn't need to look for agency workers."

The ease of completing timesheets has also seen improvements, with faster verification that employees have worked their scheduled hours, resulting in more than 80% of the timesheets being automatically approved each fortnight.

Clayton Pyne, CEO of Humanforce, remarked on their collaboration with SCCQ, saying, "Our partnership with Southern Cross Care Queensland is a testament to how technology can revolutionise workforce management in complex sectors like aged care. By providing intuitive solutions that address industry-specific frontline worker challenges, we are helping organisations like Southern Cross Care Queensland deliver better outcomes for their employees and, ultimately, their aged care residents."

The financial tools provided by Humanforce's Wellbeing solution have also been advantageous, with 60-70% of SCCQ staff utilising the early wage access feature. Priest commented on this benefit: "I think Humanforce is best at providing staff with access to the information they need in an intuitive way via the app. Staff have loved the flexibility to be paid when they want to be paid or when they need to be paid. It has made a huge difference to their financial wellbeing." He added, "If a staff member needs extra funds for a particular event and they've already worked several shifts, they can jump on the Thrive app and have a percentage of those funds transferred straight away, instead of waiting until pay day."
