In-depth multi-cloud monitoring banishes blind spots

24 Sep 2019

Multi-cloud environments are fantastic for ensuring that the right applications run in the right place for the right people at the right time, but anyone who has attempted to manage these environments knows that there are plenty of challenges.

Often components end up scattered across different cloud environments – public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud. This leads to data all over the place. There are also significant blind spots and bottlenecks that can prevent the smooth function of these cloud environments.

IDC reports that spending on public cloud services and infrastructure will reach $210 billion by the end of the year – but is that money well spent? Are businesses forking out for cloud resources that are sitting unused?

It may not be something the cloud providers themselves are best suited to answer. While cloud providers offer tools that monitor service availability, they often don’t provide full visibility and data correlation across all those separate cloud environments.

So if the providers don’t offer it, what are the next steps? It’s a must-have requirement to be able to see a comprehensive view on the performances of all cloud services, no matter what or where they are.

This is where monitoring services like Zoho’s Site24x7 thrive in cloud environments. Site24x7 is a cloud-based performance monitoring solution that monitors environments such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon, and Microsoft Azure.

"With pay-as-you-go pricing models, public cloud platforms are strategic drivers for digital transformation. Since digital transformation is largely a process and not the end goal, businesses not only want to embark on their digital transformation journey, but also want to optimise it to reap greater results," explains Site24x7 product manager Srinivasa Raghavan.

AI-driven monitoring and IT automation can help drive down the mean time to address issues across all cloud environments, which means IT teams are much more productive.

Take monitoring on Microsoft Azure, for example. Late last year Site24x7 rolled out this new capability that allows IT teams to manage more than 100 Azure products using the Azure Monitor REST API in near real time.

The unified solution can deliver full stack monitoring in a hybrid environment, thus giving DevOps and IT teams a holistic view into their IT infrastructure – exactly what’s necessary to eliminate blind spots and bottlenecks.

Site24x7’s Azure monitoring also makes it easy to gain visibility into processes and services running in Windows and Linux virtual machines; the APM Insight .NET extension helps in application performance management of .NET applications in addition to Java, PHP and Node.js.

Artificial intelligence also powers detection features that can spot unusual spikes in KPIs; while automation capabilities allow IT teams to automate recovery and fault tolerance without any human intervention.

Put your cloud spend to better use with AI-driven monitoring across all cloud types.
