Insight publishes key technology trends in 2025 report
Insight Enterprises has published its 2025 Trends Report, identifying key technology trends expected to shape business strategies and investments over the coming year.
The report aims to guide organisations in aligning with new developments. It focuses on six major technology trends impacting various business sectors in 2025, including the evolution of AI models. The introduction of DeepSeek earlier this year showcases how rapidly the AI landscape is transforming, underlined by advances in generative AI, multimodal capabilities, AI orchestration, integration with Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and sustainability concerns surrounding AI.
With the increased deployment of AI, security implications are also a key concern. Insight advises that businesses adapt their security procedures to counteract the threats posed by malicious actors who may exploit these new technologies.
The report also delves into the future of cloud technology, noting a trend towards hybrid cloud solutions. This shift is driven by the necessity for operational efficiency and the expanding role of AI and Intelligent Edge tools in maintaining and enhancing infrastructure efficacy.
As the industry continues to innovate, spatial computing emerges as a significant development. The report highlights its potential transition from a focus on gaming to widespread business applications. This shift is especially relevant when combined with AI and the increasing ubiquity of Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Additionally, Insight points to the rise of private 5G connectivity technology. There is a burgeoning demand for 5G in industrial and commercial settings to provide faster speeds, better reliability, and improved security.
Software rationalisation is another focus area in the report, emphasising the importance of organisations streamlining their application portfolios. This approach aims to boost operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance security posture.
Phil Hawkshaw, Insight's Chief Technology Officer for EMEA, comments on the necessity of businesses incorporating technology into their operations: "Today's most successful organisations seamlessly integrate information technologies across all corners of their operations and customer experiences. To remain competitive, businesses must leverage technology not only to drive operational efficiency but also to enable innovation for future growth."
He further remarks upon the dynamic nature of technological development: "The industry is buzzing with developers advancing technology at a high pace and organisations striving to capitalise on these advancements – these developments could be in AI, cloud, mobile or spatial computing. All trends that we expect to see in the coming months and that are explored in the 2025 Trends Report."
Hawkshaw underscores the importance of adaptability in the IT sector: "In a fast-changing world, IT leaders must be flexible and stay on top of their digital infrastructure. Partner ecosystems can help in accelerating the development of their innovation engine and technical capabilities, whilst offering support in navigating the ever-changing IT landscape."
The Insight Trends Report contributes to the ongoing dialogue about technology's role in business operations, helping organisations prepare for the technological evolutions that are anticipated soon.
