Juniper unveils AI-driven enhancements for enterprise WAN solutions

Fri, 7th Jun 2024

Juniper Networks, known for its AI-Native Networking solutions, has announced significant enhancements to its products that aim to streamline operations and boost efficiency across enterprise WAN environments. The new offerings include WAN Assurance, Premium Analytics, and Marvis Virtual Networking Assistant (VNA), augmented with advanced AI capabilities. Furthermore, the company has unveiled Routing Assurance, the first product in the industry to incorporate AI-Native automation and insights into traditional edge routing topologies.

The enhanced Juniper solution leverages AI for Networking to ensure more value for enterprise WAN environments. Notably, its Marvis Minis now extends to Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN). This digital experience twin solution diagnoses authentication issues, conducts continuous WAN speed tests, and spans wired, wireless, and WAN, delivering exceptional user experiences. Additionally, new WAN Congestion Service Level Expectations (SLEs) alert operators to over-utilised network interfaces, and WAN dynamic packet capture (dPCAP) captures packets for efficient issue resolution.

The Premium Analytics product has also seen improvements with the introduction of a security insights dashboard. This feature aggregates visibility into security events, enabling real-time threat responses and fostering collaboration between networking and security teams. The integration of Secure Service Edge (SSE) and SD-WAN insights within this dashboard streamlines operational workflows, offering greater efficiency and cost savings.

The introduction of the Routing Assurance product represents a significant innovation. This solution brings Juniper's high-performance, sustainable enterprise edge routing platforms together with Mist AI and cloud capabilities, modernising the WAN edge. Customisable service levels allow for monitoring, analysing, and resolving issues across connected WAN Edge and peering locations. Additionally, Marvis, an AI-Native VNA, now covers enterprise WAN edge routing, offering a conversational interface for proactive recommendations and end-to-end networking solutions.

Juniper's enhancements position it as the only vendor with a single AI-Native Platform, reducing operational expenditures by up to 85% in some instances across the entire networking footprint. The new platform expansions span all key networking domains, from campus and branch to data centre and WAN links, regardless of topology.

The improvements have been welcomed by industry professionals. Kevin McCartan, Senior IT Service Delivery Engineer at Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland, noted, "These new advancements enable us to proactively troubleshoot networks, simplify operations, deliver exceptional retailer and customer experiences, and gain deeper client-level visibility, reinforcing our dedication to top-tier network performance and reliability across our retail estate."

Ray Mota, CEO and Principal Analyst at ACG Research, stated, "Juniper's latest AI-Native Networking Platform capabilities provide a simple, secure way to secure, manage, and optimise user experiences at the WAN edge and within SD-WAN services. This innovation offers a unified solution for AIOps across various domains."

Sunalini Sankhavaram, Vice President of Product Development at Juniper Networks, emphasised the comprehensive nature of the new platform. "These innovations enable simplified, fast assurance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution across multiple branch office, WAN Edge, and peering locations. We are also uniquely combining the security and networking domains operationally, which enables insight-driven, holistic security management and audit within the broader networking context."
