Lanas has appointed Rob Hutcheson as Chief Corporate Development Officer, a new role created to support the healthcare technology company's acquisition strategy.

Based in Brisbane, Hutcheson joins the Irish-headquartered group with more than 20 years' experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, and growth strategy. More than 15 of those years have been in healthcare technology.

He will lead Lanas' global corporate development strategy and its expanding mergers and acquisitions function, working with founders, management teams, and investors to identify acquisition targets that add to the company's technology portfolio and broaden its reach in healthcare markets.

The appointment comes as Lanas continues to build a business spanning primary care, community care, pharmacy, specialist care, and care platforms. It now has more than 20 products and services serving clinicians across two hemispheres.

Lanas is backed by private equity investor TA and launched in late 2025 with €100 million committed to M&A. Formed after the acquisition of Clanwilliam Group, it has since positioned itself as a buyer and operator of healthcare software products in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Expansion plans

Lanas is seeking to grow through a mix of acquisitions and operational development in electronic health records and related healthcare systems. Its platforms handle 871 million clinical documents and messages each year, while more than 40,000 GPs use its products across its markets.

It also said one of its systems processes two prescriptions every second, underscoring the scale of the business as it looks for further acquisitions in a fragmented healthcare technology market.

Chief Executive Officer Howard Beggs commented on the hire as the group prepared for its next phase of expansion.

"We're building a company focused on the technology healthcare organisations rely on every day. Rob brings deep healthcare technology and M&A experience and will play an important role as we identify and acquire complementary technologies that strengthen our offering and create greater value for customers. By combining strategic acquisitions with strong in-market expertise, we can support innovative solutions for clinicians and healthcare providers, including here in Ireland. We see significant opportunities ahead and are committed to investing in products and capabilities that help make healthcare more connected, efficient and accessible," said Beggs.

Hutcheson said the role appealed because it offered the chance to join a company with an established presence in several healthcare markets and scope to expand through acquisitions.

"What attracted me to Lanas was the opportunity to join a company with a clear vision and strong foundations. The products already support healthcare organisations across multiple markets, and there's a significant opportunity to build on that through strategic acquisitions. I'm looking forward to working with founders, management teams and investors to identify technologies that strengthen our capabilities, expand our offering and help solve real healthcare challenges," said Hutcheson.

Healthcare focus

The move adds senior dealmaking expertise at a time when healthcare software groups are under pressure to broaden their product ranges and deepen ties with clinical and operational workflows. Across the sector, companies are pursuing acquisitions to gain access to established customer bases, specialist software, and expertise in regulated markets.

From Dublin, Lanas oversees products used by healthcare organisations across multiple care settings. Its business includes software and systems for day-to-day clinical administration, prescribing, and records management, areas where providers often rely on long-standing technology platforms.

By appointing a dedicated Chief Corporate Development Officer, Lanas is formalising responsibility for sourcing and executing deals as it seeks to expand internationally. Hutcheson's role will place him at the centre of conversations with company founders and investors as the group looks for technologies that fit its existing product set.

Its products are used by clinicians across two hemispheres, highlighting the geographic reach of a group that remains relatively new in its current form. With TA's backing and €100 million allocated for acquisitions at launch, Lanas has signalled that dealmaking will remain central to its growth model.
