Lenovo launches AI-optimised ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 device

Lenovo has introduced the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2, an AI-optimised device specifically designed for video conferencing room systems.

Equipped with the Intel Core Ultra processor on the Intel vPro platform, the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 is designed to efficiently manage AI workloads while consuming up to 40% less power than previous models. This makes it particularly suited to the demands of AI-heavy meeting environments.

Lenovo offers the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 as a standalone device or as part of the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 Full Room Kit, which includes the ThinkSmart Bar 180 with Intelligent Speaker functionality. This package allows for easy installation and connectivity, providing a complete room solution. It also incorporates advanced hardware protection and automatic updates from Windows 11 to ensure secure collaboration.

The device features include intelligent power management, facilitated by an integrated NPU, which optimises compute tasks and data transfer. This results in improved efficiency and security. The inclusion of AI-enabled tools supports platforms such as Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms, offering features like intelligent framing of participants and real-time assistance.

Shannon MacKay, General Manager of Lenovo's Worldwide Smart Collaboration Business, commented on the technological advancements of the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2. "Smart collaboration technology continues to advance rapidly with the introduction of AI-enabled features. Customers are looking for more compute power and flexibility to future-proof meeting spaces and take advantages of solutions available now and just over the horizon," she said.

The ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 also provides a built-in cable management system, robust connectivity options, and resilience to operate in varied conditions. Its flexibility allows for various room setups and peripherals, with capabilities for a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) mode.

For IT managers, Lenovo is offering the ThinkSmart Core Gen 2 preloaded with ThinkSmart Manager software, including the Intel vPro platform, which allows for remote management and reduces manual workloads for IT departments. Additionally, it is secured with Lenovo's ThinkShield solutions from the operating system to the cloud.

The device comes with a three-year warranty and support services, including a one-year ThinkSmart Manager Premium license and Lenovo Smart Collaboration Professional Services to facilitate rapid deployment.
