Litera appoints Avaneesh Marwaha as new CEO

Today

Litera has appointed its current Chairman of the Board, Avaneesh Marwaha, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), marking a new phase of leadership aimed at product innovation and customer experience enhancement.

Marwaha, who previously served as Litera's CEO from 2016 to 2022, brings his extensive experience as both a lawyer and entrepreneur back to the forefront of the legal technology company. He is tasked with advancing the firm's mission to transform the legal experience and integrate GenAI more deeply into Litera's product ecosystem.

Over his prior tenure, Marwaha worked closely with Global Chief Information Officers (CIOs) to construct foundational legal technology solutions. His vision now centres on optimising legal workflows with enterprise-grade solutions, fostering user adoption, and maintaining a steady pace of innovation.

Outgoing CEO, Sheryl Hoskins, played a significant role in steering the company over the past two years, focusing on improving operational excellence and streamlining Litera's processes. "I'm proud of the achievements we've accomplished in the last two years at Litera, putting the company in a position to adapt to dynamic shifts in the legal tech market," said Hoskins. "Avaneesh's decades of legal practice and legal tech experience give him the unique vision to lead Litera as we continue to invest, innovate, and integrate our ecosystem of intuitive, AI-driven products that will revolutionise the lawyer work experience." Hoskins will continue to serve as an advisor to Litera's board until the end of 2024.

Marwaha emphasised his commitment to aligning closely with customers to ensure their needs are met within the evolving legal tech landscape. "Litera has always been dedicated to advancing legal technology and the legal profession," said Marwaha. "Lawyers and law firms depend on Litera to stay at the forefront of technology innovations and practically adapt them into the ways lawyers like to work, and firms operate and grow. I'm grateful to Sheryl and her leadership for bringing Litera to this transformational moment as we help law firms harness their own legal expertise and business data to deliver better outcomes and win more business."
