LumApps has appointed Sébastien Cano as Chief Executive Officer, with founder Sébastien Ricard becoming Executive Chairman.

Cano will take up the post on 1 December 2026 as the workplace software company reshapes its leadership team. Ricard, who founded the business more than a decade ago, will remain involved in long-term strategy and governance while stepping back from day-to-day management.

The change comes as LumApps looks to expand its international reach and strengthen its presence among large corporate customers. It says it now serves more than 10 million users, including office-based staff and frontline workers, with customers such as Zapier and Genuine Parts Company.

Bridgepoint-backed LumApps sells software designed to bring internal communications, information, productivity tools, and workflows into a single system for employees. It also integrates with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, placing it in the middle of a competitive market for digital workplace and intranet products.

Cano joins with more than 20 years of experience in enterprise software and technology businesses. He previously held senior executive roles at Thales and Gemalto, where he oversaw international operations and business expansion.

At LumApps, he will be tasked with advancing the company's Workhub product strategy and broadening the value it offers customers across markets. The business has also been emphasising artificial intelligence features as it seeks to win more large organisations looking to simplify how staff access tools and information.

Leadership change

Ricard described the handover as the next stage in the company's development after a period of growth in scale and customer reach.

"Over ten years ago, we founded LumApps with a simple goal: to transform how businesses connect, inform, and engage every employee, anywhere," said Sébastien Ricard, Founder and incoming Executive Chairman, LumApps.

"Thanks to our customers and partners, LumApps has become the global leader in employee experience. As we enter our next major phase of innovation & growth, Sébastien Cano's extensive track record in leading enterprise tech companies makes him the ideal leader to guide LumApps forward," Ricard said.

The appointment puts Cano in charge from the company's Austin headquarters, while LumApps maintains roots in Lyon and operations in other markets. It also marks a shift from founder-led management to a structure more commonly associated with software groups moving from a high-growth phase into broader international expansion.

Leadership changes of this kind are closely watched in the software sector because they can signal a company's priorities for its next chapter. In LumApps' case, those priorities include scaling sales, deepening ties with large employers, and sharpening its product direction in an increasingly crowded market for employee platforms.

Product focus

LumApps describes Workhub as central to its offering, bringing together communication, learning, search, and workflow functions for workers across different roles. That puts the company among vendors trying to solve a longstanding problem for employers: fragmented systems that force staff to switch between multiple tools to find information or complete tasks.

Cano said he intends to focus on that roadmap after taking over.

"LumApps has built an exceptional platform, a world-class team, and a highly trusted brand among businesses of all sizes across the globe," said Sébastien Cano, incoming Chief Executive Officer, LumApps.

"Based in our U.S. headquarters in Austin, Texas, I look forward to working closely with our customers, partners, and global teams to keep delivering on our promise across all regions. I am excited to join the organization at this pivotal moment. My priority will be accelerating our Workhub innovation roadmap, and ensuring every employee across lines of business and industries maximizes the value of their LumApps solution in an AI-driven world," Cano said.

LumApps has been recognised by Gartner and Forrester in the intranet software market, which has evolved as employers try to support both hybrid office workers and frontline staff who may not spend much of their day at a desk. Vendors in this segment are under pressure to show that their products can do more than serve as a corporate homepage, particularly as artificial intelligence becomes a more prominent factor in workplace software buying decisions.

For LumApps, the leadership transition marks a point at which the founder remains influential while operational control passes to an executive brought in from outside the business. Ricard will stay active in long-term strategy and governance as Cano takes charge of daily operations.
